Advertisement Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Hi ejd, Take a look here super angulon R 21mm f4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
garyp Posted June 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2009 It does from me; had mine since 1983. One of my favorites that I use a lot. You need to stop down a couple of stops for best performance. I bought it new in '83 for $630, a pretty good bargain, it's had one CLA for a sticky aperture ring about 7 or 8 years ago so it's also been good mechanically. lct Posted June 16, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 16, 2009 Does it get the thumbs up? Any observations gratefully received... See http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/87071-classic-21mm-f4-super-angulon-r.html Good lens, small size compared to the early 19/2.8. Vignetting is not a problem with my copy (on the 5D) and distorsion can be adjusted easily with Photoshop or same. The 21/4 is not worst than the early 19/2.8 from this viewpoint. The Elmarit-M 21/2.8 asph is obviously better but much more expensive as well. If you read French, see Summilux - Tests - 19 et 21 mm Leica R
ejd Posted June 16, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted June 16, 2009 Many thanks, garyp, and lct, for these comments. Very helpful. (There was one on ebay. I put in a bid but did not win it. Nearly -- but not quite.) Thanks again. John
