How many of you M8 users wear glasses?

I'm right-eyed, wore contact lenses correcting to 20/25 for many years, but shifted to progressives when I needed some help with fine print. I can see the 28mm lines in the M8, the 35mm lines in the M2, and sometimes focus without glasses. But I don't mind using an extra viewfinder for 24, 21 and down. It's faster not to obsess over focus with every shot.

But with M8, I cannot see the 28mm frame, even the 35mm frame is hard to see in total.

That is my experience too. I suspect that the degree to which frames are visible depends on the strength of your eye prescription and the thickness of the lenses in your glasses.

I am seriously myopic with uncorrected vision of 20/400 and am somewhat astigmatic. I use my M8 without diopter correction and occasionally use a (-3) diopter lens without glasses.

However, I am able to see the full viewfinder with glasses as well. Additionally, I sometimes use the 1.35 magnifier for critical focusing, but that has nothing to do with wearing glasses. The Leica has a large bright viewfinder and should cause you no problems.

I wear glasses too. I can use all lenses (or rather, all frame lines) without problems. For most of the time the experience is completely transparent - with or without glasses feels the same. The only time I've ever been conscious of my glasses is when I've knocked them on the metal eye piece. A rubber O ring on the eye piece would have been nice - a missing feature, I think.

Not sure what kind of vision you have, but remember that diopter correction is of limited use if you have astigmatism. Unless you can see hard edges it's difficult to use a rangefinder accurately. For which reason many people prefer to use their M with their glasses on.

It's even beyond that. I have a pretty mild prescription and only started wearing glasses when a diopter correction on the eyepiece was no longer effective.

In a fit of novelty I bought new glasses (same prescription) without checking how well they'd work for photography and found that they made it much more difficult to see the 28 frame lines, once I got home (d'oh!). Which is a problem considering it's my normal lens.

After some cursing and attempts at adaptation I went back to my previous frames and have no problems with any framelines except the 24.

How does one use your left eye without your nose getting in the way?

Personally, I find that my nose makes a good camera support, but for those who wish to avoid this I only know of two ways:-

1) Have your nose surgically removed.

2) Hold the camera upside-down.

I am a wearer of glasses.

I also use adjustment lenses in my diving mask. Back in the days when housed underwater cameras had poor viewfinders (the Nikon F801 had something of a 'high relief' viewfinder but even so was not wondrous behind a thick piece of glass) it was difficult to view the entire SLR screen and many underwater shooters developed a composing 'wiggle' of the head to ensure reasonable composition.

Compared with this the M8 viewfinder is brilliant and I personally use it with all frame lines without even the need for an M8 'wiggle'.

Interesting, my M8 has a rubber ring around the eyepiece. My M8 is 2.5 years old and has had it right out of the box. No scratches on my glasses, from my M8 at least.

I wear glasses, and I have no problems seeing the 28mm frame lines (I use mostly a 35 though). I regularly bump my glasses against the camera and never damaged them, however I have to clean them often :).
