Any other views on the summarit?

I also have the Summarit. I think that it's a lovely lens with excellent image quality. Besides being less expensive than others, it's also compact and doesn't intrude into the viewfinder area. :)

Many thanks for all of your advice. I have now purchased a s/h mint example of a 35mm Summicron ASPH. I decided against the new Summarit or a CV that I would probably end up selling.

Thanks again.

Hi.

I started my Leica journey with Leica M8 and 35mm Cron Asph (Used one). The reason I picked this one after research was the fact it is actually 47mm on M8. I knew I am using 50mm focal length a lot from Canon experience.

So far I am very happy with this lens. I added 90mm Elamit-M (used) recently.

I am very happy with this lens as well.

The 35 Cron ASPH is an excellent choice in a one lens kit. It is so compact, and the image quality at every f: stop is absolutely first rate. The performance is also excellent in both close and distant shooting.....a very versatile lens, with a nice OOF image.

I think you will be very happy...........mine is my M8 bodycap

but also keep my opinion that chromes perform better :D

I don't believe you ;) But I confess that I ordered my Summilux 50asph in chrome - just to hedge my bet:o

My camera body cap is a Cron 35 I bought second hand and got coded.

If you are not afraid of getting close to your subject 28 is not a bad choice either.

I'll have to see how things go with the 35 but I do anticipate getting a 24 or even 21 and probably a 75 in time. Of course if I win the lotto I might splash our on the WATE.:)

I just ordered my Summicron 35mm f2 ASPH with UV+IR filter. Thanks to this thread. Now I'm just waiting for my order to arrive. I'm so excited. :D

Nice. Wonder how long I will have to wait for my 'free filters' to arrive from Leica? Do they get shipped from Germany or locally from Leica UK?
