robsteve Posted November 4, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 4, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Keeping with the theme of my old fashioned soccer thread form last week, here are a few shots from a football game I was at today. Old fashoined meant with a manual focus lens and slow motor drive. Just got back from the football game about an hour ago. It was mixed lighting with the sun coming out behind the coulds now and then and stadium lighting later in the day. I tried shooting from behind the play. You tend to see the quarterback better from there. These are some of the better shots I got. Since the DMR only does 2fps, there is no point in bursts, which means only shot about 150 images. Of course, not all were in focus.

hamey Posted November 5, 2006 Share #5 Posted November 5, 2006 May I remind some. There is only one FOOTBALL, and thats the one you play with your feet, AND YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH IT WITH YOUR HANDS EXCEPT WHEN THE FOOTBALL IS RETURNED BACK INTO PLAY. THE GOAL KEEPER CAN ONLY HANDLE THE FOOTBALL AS LONG IT'S WITHEN HIS GOAL BOUNDRY. Thus, It's FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL and not SOCCER. The word SOCCER IS FOR ASSOCIATION. It's the only game that most of the WORLD PLAYS, Robert, on your four shots, not once are the players using their feet. My impression of AMERICAN what you call it. 1..Catch the ball with hands. 2.. Throw the ball with hands 3...Run with ball in hands, with others trying to catch you. 4... And it's a touch down. And yes on occasions the funny shaped ball, which is designed to be held in one's hands is sometimes kicked. I am not anti AMERICAN as my dear late Grandmother was an American from Detroit Mich This also applies to Australians who refer to Rugby and Aussie Rules as football. Now back to the real thing, thats Leica Cameras. Robert. Very nice images. Cheers.

Why do they call soccer football? They seldom have their feet on it
stuny Posted November 15, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 15, 2006 Robert - Both are excellent series for their detail and light, and in the case of the non-North American football, the moments are superb. what lens?
wide.angle Posted November 15, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 15, 2006 They can both be called football because players need to run on foot while playing with the ball. 8-D Robert, thanks for sharing your images, gives the feeling of being in the action.
