jacksparrow Posted May 5, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My MP fell to the ground in 2007... and I have been using it without any trouble, I mean, I think the pictures might be not as sharp as before, but after I manually readjusted the rangefinder it looked fine, it felt fine. Anyway, last month I thougth I'd drop it for CLAD, and look... yes, it's euros, How on earth this camera could still be making pictures?

JHAG Posted May 5, 2009 Share #4 Posted May 5, 2009 Seems a bit high. Might be less expensive here, even with shipping : index.html

jaapv Posted May 6, 2009 Share #6 Posted May 6, 2009 Seems a bit high.Might be less expensive here, even with shipping : index.html Well, it is not just an adjust, it is an extensive repair, including renewal of the bajonet ring, shutter repair and repair of the film transport. A lot of money, but it seems to be a "normal" Leica price. Of course an independent repair specialist will be less expensive and probably just as good. mongrelnomad Posted May 6, 2009 Share #7 Posted May 6, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think i'll probably be able to beat that in a few months. My M7 took quite a tumble last week: from the looks of things it seems that the rewind-crank is bent and the shutter's broken. And that's just what I as a layman can tell... I'm bracing myself for the repair estimate
jacksparrow Posted May 6, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted May 6, 2009 good luck mongrelnomad... mine looked good and seemed to work fine, that's why I'm so surprised by the cost. Don't think it can get much higher otherwise I'd be starting to think if it's worth it.
JBA Posted May 7, 2009 Share #9 Posted May 7, 2009 Last month I was out photographing the cherry blossoms in Tokyo when my heavy chrome 21 Elmarit Asph. suddenly released itself from the front of my M6 and hit the pavement. The impact knocked the focusing ring out of round so it wouldn't turn. The glass all looked OK, but there was no telling whether or not something had been knocked out of place. Leica Ginza estimated the repair at around $1200-$1500 and to require about 3-4 months. Repairing dropped Leica equipment ain't cheap.
