purple flower straight and painted

caryl,

stunning, especially for two reasons - these colors blow everything away - really very powerful. plus - i really like the symmetry between the petals and the underlying leaves - very nicely done. i am still torn between the photograph and your painted version - hard to tell, which i like more.

i am wondering whether flower pics always need color - enclosed a shot i took some time ago - what do you think?

btw - how is the 135mm on the m8 - i also thought that it is very hard to handle this lens due to the lacking framelines and the sensor's crop factor.

cheers,

markus

Thank you all. I think some flowers are very dramatic in BW and work very well. The 135 is great. I never use the framing on any of my lenses. I just judge what i am shooting. I use so many different cameras and lenses that do not match that i just wing it. I like surprises.

Some of my paintings are in the recent isse of Corel Painter magazine. They are going to do an article on my work soon. They asked if they could.

Caryl -

Usually I am able to decide which I prefer in situations like this, and as I saw how stunning #1 was, I thought your painted version would not be able to compete. Then I scrolled down. Both excellent for color, light, contrast, detail and selective focus.
