gvaliquette Posted March 8, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted March 8, 2009 Hello all: I'm glad to see that Kodachrome is still alive and loved. Now, does anyone know if Kodachrome 25 is still available, anywhere? Thanks. Guy
4X5B&W Posted March 9, 2009 Share #7 Posted March 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) No K25 any more, it must be 5-10 years since they stopped making it. K64 can be purchased at Eight Elm Photo in Toronto.
JBA Posted March 9, 2009 Share #8 Posted March 9, 2009 Does anyone know of any source of Kodachrome in Tokyo? Will Dwayne's ship to Japan?
KM-25 Posted March 9, 2009 Share #9 Posted March 9, 2009 Now, does anyone know if Kodachrome 25 is still available, anywhere? PKM-25 or even KM-25 has not been available new in stores since late 2002 with it's last expiration date being 06/2003. It does pop up on ebay from time to time and I have sold a bit on the site to help raise funds to support the project. It is a great film, but it was very hard for Kodak to make and it did not like sitting on the shelf at room temparature nearly as much as current KR-64 does. I use it strictly with the best Leica aspherics and a Hasselblad XPan and it is spectacular.
KM-25 Posted March 9, 2009 Share #10 Posted March 9, 2009 Does anyone know of any source of Kodachrome in Tokyo? Will Dwayne's ship to Japan? We are actually trying to work out the logistics to do that through my site. I have a few project shooters who are in Japan and I have to ship them film now and then since Kodachrome is no longer officially supported in Japan anymore. Guest maddoc2003jp Posted March 9, 2009 Share #11 Posted March 9, 2009 Does anyone know of any source of Kodachrome in Tokyo? Will Dwayne's ship to Japan? They do ship to Japan. Just yesterday I have sent the next batch (6 rolls of KR-64 135-24) to Dwayne's Photo to have them processed and sent back. Usual turn-around is ~ 3 weeks and the development for 6 rolls (incl. postage for return shipping) is going to cost me ~ $60.

I'll look into getting a supply. The rates you mention are about the same as what I pay for processing in Tokyo.
JBA Posted March 16, 2009 Share #13 Posted March 16, 2009 I've got 36 rolls on the way and am every excited about shooting Kodachrome again after over 20 years. Count me as the latest devotee to the cult of Kodachrome.
marke Posted March 16, 2009 Share #14 Posted March 16, 2009 To everyone here, I would strongly suggest joining The Kodachrome Project. In addition to being a great resource for Kodachrome info, you can be a part of a very unique event in photographic history.
KM-25 Posted March 16, 2009 Share #15 Posted March 16, 2009 Thanks Marke, I am kindly bowing out of this and other sites for good due to some nasty engagement with folks on a digital versus film discussion. So I can be found on the KR site only after today. By the way, it has recently come to my attention that the project, the increased use of Kodachrome and other Kodachrome fanfare is helping to keep it around.. So keep using it and getting it processed, it matters more than you think....
chris_livsey Posted March 16, 2009 Share #16 Posted March 16, 2009 Thanks Marke, I am kindly bowing out of this and other sites for good due to some nasty engagement with folks on a digital versus film discussion. So I can be found on the KR site only after today. Now that is very sad I have always enjoyed your posts and the admirable Kodachrome project. I appreciate your reasons, although I have not seen the posts you refer to, but don't you feel "they" have won if you retreat back to the "bunker" ? It is exasperating and tiring fighting these battles but surely you can continue to post without engaging in them there are topics that would benefit from your input. Perhaps you could re-join under another name for that purpose ? Your decision, but I, and I suspect others, will be sorry to see you go and will wish you success in The Project. Guest wls.shanghai Posted March 16, 2009 Share #17 Posted March 16, 2009 KM-25 please ignore the "silly digital versus film discussion statements" from strangers, and stay at the forum. I have always enjoyed your Kodachrome project. Regards wls
Michael Hiles Posted March 16, 2009 Share #18 Posted March 16, 2009 I want to echo Chris' comment. Please reconsider backing out of (at least) this forum. Your posts that I have seen have been worthwhile and valuable to me and to many. Engaging with people we disagree with, and the occasional jerk, is the price of being alive. And the indisputable fact is that most people here are a noticable cut above OK. Help keep the average up.
andybarton Posted March 16, 2009 Share #19 Posted March 16, 2009 Thanks Marke, I am kindly bowing out of this and other sites for good due to some nasty engagement with folks on a digital versus film discussion. So I can be found on the KR site only after today. I too would hope that you reconsider. If you, or anyone, has a problem with inappropriate posts, or general nastiness / bullying by folks sitting safely behind their keyboards in another country, please use the warning triangle icon at the bottom left of each post, and advise all of the Mods and Andreas the Admin. Steps can and will be taken against such protagonists. Obviously, Mods cannot read every post in every thread, so we very much rely on sensible, right-minded members to help us out in this regard. Thanks.
