cpclee Posted February 25, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just picked up a Digilux 2 and have two questions: - The "flower" icon is shown when the focus ring is set to "AF". I don't understand this. Shouldn't this happen only when the focus ring is set to "AF-Macro"? - How can I check the version of my firmware? What is the most current version? Thanks! Advertisement Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Hi cpclee, Take a look here Digilux 2 questions. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ajthornbury Posted February 25, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 25, 2009 Yes the red flower icon in the LCD turns 'ON' when set to macro and 'OFF' when set to AF. I have just checked mine to make sure. I don't think any firmware versions would differ. Alan J.
Overgaard Posted February 25, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 25, 2009 I don't think there is any other firmware version than the one in the camera. Have a look here what is available: Leica Camera AG - Downloads The flower (which is the Macro symbol) should only be active when the lens is set Macro, not AF. Try to close down the camera, fiddle a little with the lens ring, etc. Never heard of an error with that before but could of course be a contact problem. farnz Posted February 25, 2009 Share #4 Posted February 25, 2009 Yes the red flower icon in the LCD turns 'ON' when set to macro and 'OFF' when set to AF. ... Yep, my D2's the same. Pete.
cpclee Posted February 25, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted February 25, 2009 Hm. The flower icon is on whenever the focus ring is set to "AF" or "AF-Macro"; it is replaced by an "MF" icon when the ring is turned to the numerals. Something is wrong. I'll send it in as the camera is under Leica's 1yr warranty. Took some test images and they were extremely sharp with rich tones. The build quality is great. The only thing I don't like about the camera is the lame EVF.
ajthornbury Posted February 26, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 26, 2009 I didn't like the EVF initially, but you soon get used to it. I have seen worse.
stuny Posted February 26, 2009 Share #7 Posted February 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) As AJ writes, you will adapt to the EVF. There's even a way to adapt to the EVF being a split second behind realtime, alowing you to catch action: Focus and frame, and hold the camera in such a way that you can observe the action with your other eye, and click the shutter based on what you see directly. When I sent my D2 in for some service it came back with a newer version of firmware. I bought my D2 in March of 2004. I think the major difference was improvesd autofocus response, but I seldom use autofocus.
