Digilux 2 questions

Just picked up a Digilux 2 and have two questions:

- The "flower" icon is shown when the focus ring is set to "AF". I don't understand this. Shouldn't this happen only when the focus ring is set to "AF-Macro"?

- How can I check the version of my firmware? What is the most current version?

Thanks!

I don't think there is any other firmware version than the one in the camera. Have a look here what is available:

Leica Camera AG - Downloads

The flower (which is the Macro symbol) should only be active when the lens is set Macro, not AF. Try to close down the camera, fiddle a little with the lens ring, etc. Never heard of an error with that before but could of course be a contact problem.

Hm. The flower icon is on whenever the focus ring is set to "AF" or "AF-Macro"; it is replaced by an "MF" icon when the ring is turned to the numerals. Something is wrong. I'll send it in as the camera is under Leica's 1yr warranty.

Took some test images and they were extremely sharp with rich tones. The build quality is great. The only thing I don't like about the camera is the lame EVF.

As AJ writes, you will adapt to the EVF. There's even a way to adapt to the EVF being a split second behind realtime, alowing you to catch action: Focus and frame, and hold the camera in such a way that you can observe the action with your other eye, and click the shutter based on what you see directly.

When I sent my D2 in for some service it came back with a newer version of firmware. I bought my D2 in March of 2004. I think the major difference was improvesd autofocus response, but I seldom use autofocus.
