Dear Braconi, now I am very confused... I can not remove that collar, the rear lens and the diaphragm blades are mounted there...I think that this set is a one-piece frame. Look this close-ups, please. Note the rear lens of this set near the screw.

SM and M E39 are the same so I dont pict M

look at this 2 E39 & E36 there are different from yours especially this kurnled ring at the base are you sure you cannot unscrew this sleeve? I think you can easily...

(Questo secondo me e giusto un tubo che dovrebbe stare sul corpo non sopra la lente.)

Braconi, look at my Hektor picture above; it is quite different from the two you show here; note the aperture ring shape. But, you can see also a little groove soon below the ring, which means that it will possibly unscrew there. Therefore, I do not can do that, it is very, very tight !! Do you have a picture from the collar separetely? Suggestions about how to unscrew the collar without scratch it?

I saw yours and I saw also the one above with the lens body where the collar is missing because tightened to the lens head :

here are my lenses

To trying unscrew the collar from the lens head you can use rubber joint from jar

there are enough large to grip one on the aperture ring and one on this knuled sleeve end

and unscrew anticlockwise

Good luck !

Can I make a suggestion? looking carefully to our Brazilian friend's pictures, it appears that his "Hektor" is different of what we normally know. The lens' head looks very much like the one of the known "Belgian" fakes. I had two of these fakes in my Fontenelle Collection (a Hektor and a 9cm Elmar), but both - extremely well made - were black painted. I was told many years ago that some "fake heads" were also produced to adapt to real Leitz mounts, but I wonder the chrome finish, since it is certainly more difficult - and costly - to "copy".

Pecole and other friends, I did not know about belgian fakes, in fact. But I think that it is a little difficult that my lens is a fake; I compared it with other two, recently, from camera collectors, and seem to me identical. All Leitz marks are there, well made and well legible. But, we can not guarantee nothing, of course. But today I take it to a camera technician which will dismount it, to clean and lubricate. He will try to disassemble the collar too, which is very tight, and maybe I will can use it later with the ZOOAN. After that I, will talk with you about the results...Thank you for your kindness help and giving me a solution. Big hugs.

Something is special when I look at that knurled ring at the base of the tube. One HEFAR like yours is illustrated p 103 of Lager II Lenses

JC, I think that the knurled ring is specific of the lenses with "rotating lens group" (to say, front does rotate when one focuses) : I think that all the Hektors with non rotating lens group are of the kind with no ring (as my one is)... clearly, to avoid the rotation, they changed the fitting of the top assembly to the focusing unit : I don't remember when this change occurred... but the catalog of 1955 still depicts the Hektor with that ring...

The presence of that "sleeve" makes me wonder WHAT was delivered when one ordered, in the '50s, the OHEBO = Hektor 13,5 in short mount (to say, ZOOAN included) : was it complete with the sleeve as an accessory ? Given that one could order, separately, the normal long focusing mount (ZOOKE) to have a "dual personality" lens, the sleeve was needed... maybe it was provided with the long mount and not with the OHEBO (the catalog of 1955 details that ordering the ZOOKE one had to specify the s/n of the lens he wanted to fit into... this can be related to this problem...)

(of course, this does not change the fact that the lens unit ought to be unscrewable as in your pics... the ZOOAN was introduced well before WWII)

Hi guys.

My screwmount Hektor: rotating lens head, with that knurled ring, 852964, 1951.

My bayonet Hektor: non-rotating lens head, without knurled ring, 1648676, 1959

The knurled tube is very, very tight opn the focussing ring, so I won't try to get it off!

  • 3 weeks later...

Dear fellows, I'm back! While I am waiting for my technician response about my Hektor (in cleaning process), yesterday I was watching out something in a small and traditional antiques fair in my city, when I always visit a stand with several antique cameras and accessories. So, there, something incredible to found here: a Telyt 200mm in box plus a Leitz 58mm UV filter. I supposed that it was very used, but really it is not. The focus ring was locked but in home, carefully warm the lens, I loose it and now rotates smooth and free. Now, the most incredible was the price: in local currency, R$ 100,00, equivalent at US 50,00. But here in Brazil, these lenses, in very good condition, was sold about R$ 600 to R$ 900, circa US 300 to US 450.

Here the pictures, and I have made some shots using my PLOOT. The image in the PLOOT screen is superb and the lens are very clean.
