NigelG Posted October 28, 2021 Share #20122 Posted October 28, 2021 Remember that I am asking where I’m standing not what I’m looking at (it is a very specific viewpoint) - and also maybe consider why the window has bars but is not a jailhouse or prison... Bingo! My next clue was going to be the fact that the view is very famous - but not as a photograph. Van Gogh painted this “enclosed field” multiple times over the course of a year, sometimes with a figure and sometimes without. The answer is thus that I was standing in Van Gogh’s asylum room. 2

a.j.z Posted October 29, 2021 Share #20129 Posted October 29, 2021 This was a nice one! Once I figured out that a room with bars that is not in a prison or castle or museum (and also does not look like a bank) could be a mental asylum, the rest was easy although I never have been there. From the paintings I would not have recognized it at once.
