moxie13 Posted January 5, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello - does anyone know how long it takes to receive the free IR filters from Leica? I purchased my M8.2 on Nov 15, filled put the form and received a confirmation but still no filters. Thanks in advance.

apitong Posted January 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 5, 2009 I registered my M8 on the Leica website on 15 Dec 2008 and got my two filters by UPS on December 30. Given the holiday period, I think that was a quick response.

moxie13 Posted January 5, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted January 5, 2009 Thanks. I'm in New York and the filters come from Germany, I believe - hence the delay!
gfspencer Posted January 6, 2009 Share #6 Posted January 6, 2009 It took about 30 days to get my filters. I'm in North Carolina. I wonder why they don't just package two filters with each camera?
ho_co Posted January 6, 2009 Share #7 Posted January 6, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) 13-- You did register for the free filters on the web site, didn't you? Sending the warranty card to New Jersey doesn't do anything for the filters. It took me about 2 weeks to receive them in Texas; they came FedEx. Laki Posted January 6, 2009 Share #8 Posted January 6, 2009 It took about 30 days to get my filters. I'm in North Carolina. I wonder why they don't just package two filters with each camera? and how should they know which filter diameter you need?
MV8 Posted January 6, 2009 Share #9 Posted January 6, 2009 I filled mine out the first week in December and got them before the new year (Dec29?).
dwild Posted January 6, 2009 Share #10 Posted January 6, 2009 Hi -- first post, but been reading for quite some time. I ordered the filters online on 29 November and they were shipped Fedex from Germany on 19 December. They arrived in Seattle on 22 December, but weren't delivered until the 30th -- because of the crazy snow here. One question -- on the Proforma-Invoice they state the country of manufacture as Japan, but on the outside of the filter it says Germany and on the box it says "Made in Germany"? Thanks for all the information I've gleaned from the forum. David

gfspencer Posted January 6, 2009 Share #13 Posted January 6, 2009 and how should they know which filter diameter you need? Didn't think of that.
Double Negative Posted January 6, 2009 Share #14 Posted January 6, 2009 Depends. I'd say 2-4 weeks. Mine took closer to four last month.
Seeingeye Posted January 6, 2009 Share #15 Posted January 6, 2009 I ordered my filters at around the same time as the OP and have not received mine either. I documented some of my experiences in this thread. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/69181-ordering-uv-ir-filters.html My understanding is that at the time the owners' section of the Leica website was not functioning properly after being down for maintenance for several days. It is possible that you have been caught up in the same situation. I have had some further e-mail correspondence with Solms in which they asked first for my address and then a couple of weeks later for my telephone number. These have been supplied, although I do wonder why Leica could not have asked for both at the same time. My last e-mail to Leica before Xmas got an out of office response stating that the recipient would not be back until 8 January. As you can imagine, I am somewhat frustrated that I have had to wait more than two months for my filters and there is still no indication of when I will receive them. First the website was unavailable and then the order seems to have disappeared into a black hole. Regards Mike
Clook Posted January 6, 2009 Share #16 Posted January 6, 2009 Received e-mail confirmation of order just before midnight on 23rd December. Still waiting but not expecting delivery for a while yet due to the holidays. In Northern Ireland.
