andit Posted December 29, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Guys, I spotted this Pelican yesterday in Walvisbay, Namibia, in the yacht harbor. He was really friendly and let me get to about 1 meter from him to take these images. M8, cv 40mm Nokton, f/8.0, 1/3000 sec, iso 160. Thanks for looking, all comments welcome. Advertisement Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Hi andit, Take a look here Great White Pelican. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
michali Posted December 29, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 29, 2008 Andreas- Nice shots. I like #2, he's really posing for you. I also got a photograph of a friendly pelican in Walvis Bay, posted a few months back. I guess they get habituated by the fishermen who feed them. stuny Posted December 29, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 29, 2008 Andreas - Glad to see you back, and trust that you, H & K had a wonderful Christmas. As mike suggests, Walvis Bay gets so many fishermen and tourists that I'm sure he's used to people. Excellent shots for detail, light, color, selective focus and framing. Since it's so bright it must not have been early in the day, and the fog has "burned" off.
smgorsch Posted December 29, 2008 Share #5 Posted December 29, 2008 My vote goes with #1. Looks as if he's contemplating world financial chaos & as he returns to the The Street... Nice stefan

andit Posted December 29, 2008 Author Share #11 Posted December 29, 2008 Here's an image where he was looking directly at me. He was probably admiring the Red Dot (or thinking 'I wonder if I can eat that?'). Andreas
