cfc247 Posted November 13, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) My d2 finally arrived. I'm still trying to get used to the macro (does it work at all focal lengths?) and the AF. It's been somewhat sporadic inside the house. I need to get acquainted with manual. If anyone has some quick tips from your years of experience with this camera I would appreciate it. Also, what case do you use for the d2? A couple of sample pics from the garden. I still can't believe how crisp the images are! Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Advertisement Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Hi cfc247, Take a look here Digilux 2 case. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
elgenper Posted November 13, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2008 Nice images! As for tips, read this: leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Sites - Leica Digilux 2 sample photos and tests (as well as Panasonic DMC-LC1) and download this: http://www.cdiny.com/ArticlesWhitePapers/Digilux_Field_Guide.pdf That should keep you busy for a while... Yes, macro does work at all zoom settings, only, it´s not very close even then. You´ll soon find out by trying. As for cases, I use a Billingham Hadley Small. The lens shade is ALWAYS on my camera; no filter. Others will have different ideas....

mobeyone Posted November 13, 2008 Share #7 Posted November 13, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Congrats on the purchase! I love my D2 as well! Regarding the case, I too own the Leica case but have to say its not very practical. The case is very tight at the top and I have the camera several times removing the camera from the case leaving small marks... not happy.
wda Posted November 13, 2008 Share #8 Posted November 13, 2008 Congrats on the purchase! I love my D2 as well! Regarding the case, I too own the Leica case but have to say its not very practical. The case is very tight at the top and I have the camera several times removing the camera from the case leaving small marks... not happy. I bought the Leica case at the same time as the camera. It lives in the case when not in use. Agreed the top is a little tight, but it soon eases with use. With the right technique it is easy to extract or return the camera to the case without catching the zips. It is a high quality case and gives excellent protection. When taken on trips, my D2 shares a Lowepro case with my M6 camera and lenses, but returns to its own Leica case in due course.
farnz Posted November 13, 2008 Share #9 Posted November 13, 2008 I use the Luigi case. The quality is exceptional as are the feel and look; what's more he makes a case for the Elpro-D too. Pete.
wparsonsgisnet Posted November 13, 2008 Share #10 Posted November 13, 2008 I have the Leica case and don't bother with whatever scratches it makes. It works well and doesn't look like a camera case -- that fits my prescription perfectly.
whorg Posted November 14, 2008 Share #11 Posted November 14, 2008 I've used a (full) forest green Luigi case since day one. Beautiful. ~jk
bowdie Posted November 15, 2008 Share #12 Posted November 15, 2008 Hi, I made my digilux case. I found a stall in a local market selling leather goods, and noticed that one of their bags was just about the right size for my camera. Granted, it's nowhere near Luigi quality, but this cost 15UKP, and a few hours work!
daveleo Posted November 15, 2008 Share #13 Posted November 15, 2008 congrats on your new D2 ... and welcome. i have a small Billingham bag for my D2, and there's room also for a small metz flash or my BessaT with 15mm lens .... keeps all the bases covered. ironically the Billingham however looks a little too nice .... i have had people notice the bag and actually say "you must have a nice camera in that bag" .... so i am not sure a flashy bag is a good idea.
