andybarton Posted December 8, 2008 Share #25 Posted December 8, 2008 I was there last year and I too don't speak German. But, that might change by June next year There were plenty of kind souls who helped me out while I was there, especially from Norway, Holland and Switzerland. I still had a great time on the two days that I was able to attend. I'm looking forward to the whole weekend next year.

Sandokan Posted December 27, 2008 Share #31 Posted December 27, 2008 I look forward to seeing you all again - Andy, you do yourself injustice, your German was better than mine . I made many new friends and look forward to seeing you all again - especially if Max brings his wife, who is very very cute :-) I would say it is a definite, but as I am jobless at the moment - I make no promises. However, I will be fluent in German by June . Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! andybarton Posted January 9, 2009 Share #33 Posted January 9, 2009 For anyone in the UK planning to go this summer, Flybe currently have flights to Frankfurt for £70 all in. At that price, my idea of taking a bit of a road-trip and driving down is just a non-starter. Need to see whether I can blag a whole weekend pass this time
spylaw4 Posted January 15, 2009 Share #34 Posted January 15, 2009 Not sure yet, but with my Xmas/New Year extravaganza and another main trip in March, plus the Challenge in October and the disastrous GBP/[insert foreign currency as applicable] exchange rate - I may have to give Hessenpark a miss, but you never know. hoppyman Posted January 16, 2009 Share #35 Posted January 16, 2009 I'm in Australia. I may actually be in Frankfurt exactly at that time! Is it not too difficult via public transport to get to Wetzlar and Solms from there? Is it difficult for an English speaker to arrange for the visit to that place in Solms with the Red dot?? Do you speak English or Strine, Geoff? It shouldn't be a problem because I've found that Germans are generally a very accommodating and helpful people who often speak excellent English. andybarton Posted January 16, 2009 Share #38 Posted January 16, 2009 Geoff There will be a few of us here (me included) flying into Frankfurt and hiring a car, so I am sure something could be arranged. Last year we found a very reasonable guesthouse/hotel to stay in, and when we visited Solms, they were very accommodating of non-German speakers (including me). If there isn't an official visit as part of the itinerary, I'd happily go along with you. Had a great time last year, and I am looking forward to the same this time.
