daveleo Posted October 13, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) hello there I am hoping to take photos automatically at long intervals, with my D2 mounted on a tripod, unattended. I cannot see how to fire the D2 except to push down on the button, so I am not sure what kind of intervalometer to look at. Has anyone done this? and can you give me some guidance? much appreciated if you can.
Advertisement Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Hi daveleo, Take a look here intervalometer + D2 ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chouhsin Posted October 13, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 13, 2008 If I remember right, there's a program that allows you to do this. All you need is a PC/Mac and the cable to go with D2. Oh and of course, the program installed correctly. Best, Hsin

Otherwise, you might find something to plug into the cable release socket (the one marked "AV out/remote") inside the door at the left end of the camera (I assume by "D2" you mean the Digilux 2). Leica makes a nice cable release, but I suppose one could rig some electronic timer up to close the circuit at regular intervals.
daveleo Posted October 13, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted October 13, 2008 thanks for the replies (yes it's a Digilux-2). but those bring up different problems (1) my laptop has Linux and I doubt the software will work on it and (2) I don't want to leave the laptop unattended and (3) the battery life is only 4-5 hours on it. somewhere in my travels I heard of an electromechanical gizmo that actually pressed down on the shutter button.... must keep looking.
