sdai Posted November 7, 2008 Share #21 Posted November 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) No but seriously Simon, what have you heard of yourself? Seriously, I haven't heard anything useful about the R10, LCT. Otherwise I won't waste my time on the forum now. Give me the camera then I'll stop making noise and disappear. lct Posted November 7, 2008 Share #22 Posted November 7, 2008 So we know nothing about the launch of the R10 don't we. Difficult to separate facts from wishful thinkings sometimes.
miami91 Posted November 7, 2008 Share #23 Posted November 7, 2008 So we know nothing about the launch of the R10 don't we. Difficult to separate facts from wishful thinkings sometimes. But LCT, does this really surprise you? We know that the S2 is Leica's latest initiative and top technological priority. We know from public statements that the R10 is due to benefit from certain components/technology from the S2. We also know the S2 isn't due till mid to late 2009. This would seem to indicate that the R10 would arrive in early 2010 in the most optimistic scenario. Given that this is quite a ways off, I really wouldn't expect any timeline clarifications from Leica for at least several more months. More to the point, don't we all hope Leica has learned from past mistakes? They were roundly criticized for announcing and then missing shipping deadlines for the DMR. They have also been roundly criticized for shipping (and not delaying) what some consider to be a beta product in the M8. I'm sure they intend to avoid both of these scenarios in the future. Jeff. mgcd Posted November 7, 2008 Share #25 Posted November 7, 2008 Buy Canon, Have the AA filter removed, Buy a adapter with focusing conformation from Canon mount to Leica R lens mount, Use Leica R lenses. No need to wait for Leica R10. Oh please...
GreyCoupe Posted January 25, 2009 Author Share #26 Posted January 25, 2009 Oh, please is right. I hope Leica will mimic enough of the S2 approaches in the R10 to abbreviate development time. If I wanted a Canon, I would buy one. I have a load of Leica glass and I want to use it on an R10. From a revenue standpoint, I won't be making any decisions to replace existing R lenses for new ones until they are out and available, either. I really, really hope this is a 2009 event/launch...
