400 & 560 are a little problematic to use for action (tripod almost mandatory, long...) but the Telyt 200 f4 is a good lens, neither difficult to find nor too costly, and can be used with satisfaction even freehand; 280 is more difficult for it's much more heavy and bulky: I say, with the 200 you can still hold the camera and focus the lens as usual, with the 280 you start to need to hold the complex (Visoflex body, typically) , focus with the other hand, then move the same hand to shot... :o

hi Luigi,

thanks for the chart. Does this mean the Telyt M 200mm F/4 always needs an adapter on the Viso? Or are there M mount Telyt M 200mm F/4 out there, that go directly on the Viso?

What would be the price for this lens?

Thanks,

Peter

Peter,

The 200 f/4 Telyt-V has a screw thread and requires the 16466 adaptor to fit it to the Viso I (M-mount), Viso II or Viso III. This is the only 200/4 mentioned by Hove or Erwin Puts and I've never heard of one either so I doubt that there was an M-mount.

Peter,

It's not a particularly good performer, low contrast and detail is not impressive so I'd expect you to be able to pick one up fairly cheaply. From memory, mine was around £250 with a Viso II and 90 degree finder.

The Telyt-V 280 f/4.8 has a much better reputation although I haven't used it, and you should be able to find it reasonably priced. (Don't mistake it for the 280 f/4 Telyt-R though, which will be a lot more expensive.)

Proenca,

The Visoflex III and its finder will work fine on your M and the finder comfortably clears the top deck. The Viso II finder is a different shape and the bottom drops down a few millimeters behind the prism, which is what prevents it from being used with the M8.

I'm not sure about the Bellows 1 though; I had an idea that only the Bellows 2 is compatible with the M8. Anyone ... ?

Try printing the attached file to an A4 transparency, cut to size and sandwich in the prism head. I used both PowerPoint and Visio to produce these, very quick, very cheap and you can customise as you wish

For what I know, the 200 f4 was never sold in M-mount for direct mount on Viso II/III : but there is one (1612xxx) depicted in Lager's book on lenses, probably a prototype (it has a sort of built-in adapter acting as the OUBIO, with tripod attachment facility - Lager displays also a RF-coupled 200 f4 that is at Solms' museum).

Just for the record, a near focal that mounts directly to Viso II/III is the rare Tele Elmarit 180 2,8: excellent and heavy lens (have one... don't sell... :) )

Does anybody have a photo of the adapter I will need to use my 135mm Elmarit 2.8 (1969). I need to see what it looks like before bidding on Ebay.

Here's to you the adapter for fitting the lenshead of 135 2,8 onto Visoflex II & III

(from J.Lager book on lenses)

Black as the lens... but if you want to have near focusing capability too (to 93 cm, not a great macro, indeed), you can add this ring between adapter & lenshead.

(ditto)

Originally conceived for Summicron 90... it was also available, later, in a identical black version, code 16474.

Of course, the 135 2,8 lenshead can be mounted also on Bellows 2... other adapters, other codes... :) .. all items that are a pleasure to search for.

Pardon my ignorance, Luigi, but where is the M bayonet on your picture of the 16462?

Pete.

Yes, is strange, but it's really made that way (I haven't the 16462, but have the Summicron 90 short mount - ZOOEP - basically the same item) : the BM is a little RECESSED and "covered" by the finely knurled ring you see at the base of the mount... don't know why they did it that way... maybe to prevent one from trying to mount it directly onto a Leica M body (which is nonsense... :) ): indeed it does mount on a Visoflex, but not on a M camera.

It's Friday... maybe tonight or tomorrow morning I'll take some pics of my ZOOEP to illustrate this better...

Thanks, Hans and Luigi.

I see now why the M-mount wasn't showing in the first picture and I think you're right that it may have been designed this way to prevent it from being attached directly to a camera - although I don't know why.

And let's finish with a quick self portarit of my hand holding VisoII + Elmarit 135 head...

in between there are the short focusing mount for Summicron 90 (acts as the black one of above... of course the distance scale is wrong for the 135), and, just to add a bit more of chrome ;) , the additional ring OUEPO.

M8 with Summicron 50 DR at f 2,8 - 1/60... not too bad, considering it was taken freehand...
