Hey, I don't know if you guys know. This Saturday night is the "nuit blanche" in Paris. The city will be having activities till morning light.

Maybe we should change the rules and end the shooting on Sunday morning? There will surely be A LOT of happenings during the night.

Fellows.

I won't be making it.The weather here is rainy and I had looked forward to meeting many of you in person. Especially under those conditions with french food, sunshine and a view to french legs. But time does not allow it.

I felt it coming, but till yesterday it still looked as there would be a chance.

So have a nice shoot and remember to make a group shot for the forum.

It transpires that we are also going to be in Gay Paree for "L'Existrans"...

"Transexuals, their friends and families march through Paris every year to raise awareness of the French transgender community. Around 40,000 marchers are expected to show their solidarity on the streets of gay Paris, making this one of the largest queer events in the French capital, second only to the city's Pride celebrations.

Alongside the music and entertainment there is a serious political undertow, as the transgendered community aims to raise the standard of the medical care that transexuals receive. The march is organised by the Association Syndrome de Benjamin (ASB) which helps transexuals receive the correct medical and psychological support."

Steve, I'm impressed - have you laid all this photogenic activity on for us especially...?

Regards,

Bill

Chaps, I am very pissed off. After managing to ensure that I would be there - it was 50-50 because of professional commitments - what happens?

I fall ill and am literally housebound for at least the next three days.

And I take this opportunity to thank Steve Unsworth for his kindness and humanity - I'd been in touch with him about where to meet in case I missed the noon appointment.

I'm very envious of you chaps (in the good sense) and know I missed a wonderful opportunity to meet some very interesting people and bind with them over drinks and dinner through our common love of photography.

It'll have to wait for next time, I'm afraid... :(

Best and I hope you will have had loads of fun,

reporting live from Paris.

Say hello to Steven for me.

Tell him I managed to set myself free to make it and then fell ill, so I'm homebound (see post above).

Also say hello to Carl Bretteville and spouse for me. And to Imants if he made it. Andy Barton, too.

I am very, very unhappy not to be there with you all, physically.

All my best,

Hope you guys (and girls) had a pleasant evening and are safely home. It was great to see old and new faces together. Our waitress was given a DMR to shoot the group photo outside the pub. When it is posted, if you feel that we all look as if we were on the starting blocks, that would be a wrong impression: we could easily have whiled away the afternoon exchanging views. At some stage, Mathew intimated that he wouldn't mind sitting inside the pub for his alloted 2 hours of shooting...

Great weather outside: blue sky, sun, and just the occasional wisp of cloud to change the light.

The clock struck its fateful chimes when I had but 2 frames left but, strangely enough, no pictures presented themselves as is often the case in such circumstances.

Looking forward to seing your masterpieces. Personnally, I found it quite difficult.

Just got back ourselves. 2 hrs from CDG to cup of tea at home is very good. :)

I must say that this was the best Challenge yet. The weather was excellent and the company better. Great to see some old and new faces this year - it was a great weekend.

A big "Thank you" to Pascal for organising a superb meal last night. I don't think that I have ever eaten better in Paris - certainly not at that price!

And for Steve for setting the day up in the first place, of course.
