Advertisement Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Hi LUF Admin, Take a look here Official Leica photokina Announcements.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted September 14, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2008 Thanks Andreas. I do have the feeling that there's something being held back by Leica. It will be an interesting couple of weeks to say the least.

Goldie Posted September 14, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 14, 2008 There are indeed other things to come; two significant items from what I have heard. However only those that need to know, know; until Photokina that is.
sdai Posted September 14, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 14, 2008 I've given a 5 star to the Pradovit. Kids are going to love it.

peter_n Posted September 15, 2008 Share #8 Posted September 15, 2008 My interest is the 24/1.4. I assume we won't know the dimensions until Photokina? It looks big...
rob_x2004 Posted September 15, 2008 Share #9 Posted September 15, 2008 So why do they call it an 8.2?
mat_mcdermott Posted September 15, 2008 Share #10 Posted September 15, 2008 Software naming conventions? Partial upgrade but not an entirely new version.
mgcd Posted September 15, 2008 Share #11 Posted September 15, 2008 Underwhelming so far, for an R guy. However the projector looks interesting... The M8.2, as opposed to the M8, now appears to be a true 16 bit, and to be more robust based on Leica's specs. Anyway... the M8.2 looks a lot more attractive to me than the M8 (even cosmetically...). adan Posted September 15, 2008 Share #12 Posted September 15, 2008 Actually, Leica had the M4.2, MD.2 and R6.2 long before software naming conventions were on most people's radars (1977 and 1990). It's always been their approach to "revisions" that don't significantly change the underlying specs - like "Mk. II/Mk.III" for Canon 1-D cameras. Pixel count the same, sensor size the same, RF base the same - thus not an M9 but an M8 with tweaks (".2").
troyfreund Posted September 15, 2008 Share #13 Posted September 15, 2008 sigh, no R-love indeed. These new lenses sound great, but I make my living primarily with my DMR, so no new R-announcements is a bit of a disappointment.
mgcd Posted September 15, 2008 Share #14 Posted September 15, 2008 sigh, no R-love indeed. These new lenses sound great, but I make my living primarily with my DMR, so no new R-announcements is a bit of a disappointment. I'm with you here Troy as you know, same case for me. Let's hope the announcements will continue and produce something positive for the likes of us. Cheers,
mooky Posted September 15, 2008 Share #15 Posted September 15, 2008 Yes, there will be more coming.............in the meantime,,,,,,digital images (and scanned analog of course) through a Leica Digital Pradovit!!!! Finally being able to see the brillance of the optics again instead through a computer screen or someone else's optics - sounds good to me. The 24's appeal to me for film and eventually a full sized sensor M. Step by step, it would appear that Leica is catching up,,,,,,,What next - R/S ??? I think we all be impressed. NZDavid Posted September 15, 2008 Share #16 Posted September 15, 2008 All very interesting. Unfortunately "Datenbankfehler/network error" on trying to open up links is disappointing. I guess the system cannot handle the attention; I'll have to check back later.
ruiespanhol Posted September 15, 2008 Share #17 Posted September 15, 2008 Its was disapointing news because no new R Digital at all:mad: Leica only think in M users:confused: and the R users are like second peolple to the company. So it was time to go to another brand becuase I was exaust of whaiting for the R Digital. R users deserve more attention from Leica. bye bye Leica:( Best
