Wow. It looks like they have discovered the music industry. Look up XXXX planet (I've changed the name... google planet and the word we used to use for LSD). That's a nice one. I used to use them (and their contract, printed and taped together end-to-end) to teach students the way to most effectively get screwed by big companies. Go read the contract. You'll be surprised to see who is trolling the internet, screwing dumb kids (who don't read contracts) out of their work.

You'll find it's a VERY... VERY big company... that can afford to pay.

Look for the letters SDP, keep reading and find out who they are :)

I agree that at first sight it looks insidious but you need to bear in mind that Google Chrome is an open source browser. This wording may be required to encourage the open source environment or otherwise users and developers would be vulnerable to claims, which would undermine or destroy the open source platform.

Just a thought and I could be totally wrong. :)

And here in the good old USA, that info probably gets automatically forwarded directly to Homeland Security.

Possible - but it's more Google aka "Data Kraken", who tries to get as much info as possible about you. They already use a wide extension of cookies (also flash cookies, which are harder to remove) to track usage.

BTW - they changed the EULA by now, said it was a "mistake" about giving them the rights of any work you use Chrome for and said "it was copied from some other software agreement"...

Therein lies a sobering reminder: always read your EULA before you agree to it because you don't know what foolishness may have been inadvertently included. If a juicy target as large as Google can make a gaff like this then heaven knows what smaller organisations might include without a moment's thought.
