Hi, I am a fresh owner of digilux 2.

I bought D2 to carry around whenever I go out. I have couple of Domke camera bags but they are to big and bulky to carry. so I am looking for a small bag for D2.

If you go out with D2 only, what kind of bad do you use?

Thanks, Ed

My preference is to either have the camera out, or if stealth is necessary, to have it in a moderate size, nondescript backpack. Many people miss photos bringing out their cameras, and some even skip photos because of the bother of taking out the camera. When I was learning to take photos one of my mentors told me to attach a handgrip via the tripod socket to my used Nikormat so that the only way I could have the camera with me is in my hand, nearly ready to shoot.

Panasonic did produce a fitted case for their version of the D2. Perhaps one of the other members has some information about it.

The Billingham L2 is also perfect, just enough for a D2 with lenshood, an Elpro, some batteries and a pair of binoculars.

I'm using it for a couple of years now and I'm very pleased with it.

good luck, Salsa

I carry the Leica bag that was made to fit the D2. It holds the D2 and has a holder for an extra battery and SD card in the bottom.

The leather smells great. When it was delivered to the camera store, my dealer called me and told me one of his guys said it smells just like the inside of a BMW. I told him he's paying his guy too much.

Nice bag. Black. Leica insignia on it.

i use the exact same bag i picked it up at j and r in nyc for around $100 several years ago I like it for seveal reasons: 1. it fits perfectly in my carryon bag - easy to carry on the plane and once at a destination 2. walking around the street it is nondescript enough to not grab a lot of attention and as above 3. extra battery and sd cards fit in perfectly

\i also use the 1/2 case from luigi (absolutely beautiful)

Yup, it doesn't look like a camera bag (unless you get close enuf to read "Leica"). I like bags that don't say, "steal me."

Hello,

I also was looking a longer time for a bag for my Leica Digilux 2, which does not look as a camera bag and should not identified especially as a "Leica Camera bag" :)

Finally I found a bag from Samsonite which fits my needs. I had to modify it: e.g. to put some polyurethane inside to protect the cam, also the wall of the bag has to be "hardened" with some inlays. But finally the bag still looks like a normal "shoulder bag" and holds my Digilux2, a 2nd recheargeable, and also in the rear section my D-Lux and some travel acessories fit into the bag.

I do not like to cover the Leica-Point at the camera, but he bag is good to be "incognito" when the camer is inside :)

Greetings

Thomas

There is a bag intended for the Digilux 3 out there that is pretty nice and compact. Leica branded, but made in China. The saving grace is that it comes with a Digilux 2/3 battery for less than the retail for the battery alone- around $65 for bag and battery.

I like the Zing bags a lot. Neoprene material gives some protection against water and bumps. The D2 fits snugly. Ans the bag can be stowed away in little space when not in use.

It even fits with the big hood on although I don't use that for being too big. I use a step ring to 72mm because I already had some B+W filters.

I also favour the Leica leather case which fits the camera perfectly. I have no qualms about carrying the camera, out of case, when I am busy capturing pictures.

Occasionally I use the Lowepro Omni Sport or Omni Traveler, depending on what additional kit I want with me. I bought the former for overseas travel when traveling light from hotels. In flight it is stuffed with socks etc in my hold baggage. It doesn't shout 'valuable camera' and has a neat top access for hiding the camera if the situation demands.

You're asking about bags, but I'd just like to point out that Luigi does make a full case for the Digilux 2. (His Digilux 2 half case with folding flap is quite nice, too.)

Thanks,

Will

I use a Lowepro.

You need to do a search on the Lowpro web site for the charts that advise what bag for various camera's

What ever mine is it is a perfect fit for the camera with lens hood in place an elpro lens and spare battery.

Hope that helps.

Rob

Thank you guys, I looked for D2 Leica bag everywhere but could not find one. I wanted a bag that does not look like a camera bag but just looks like a normal messanger bag.

So I considered Billingham L2, VG400, Domke F802/803, F-5XA and decided to purchase Billingham VG400. It seems not too big not too small and very well priced.

I will carry the bag with my D2 everyday and enjoy everyday photography.

Thanks again for all the postings!

Ed ;)
