mm0tkl Posted August 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone from a relative newcomer to this forum. Since I alway shoot in Raw mode, I'm thinking of buying a larger capacity SD card for my Digilux 2 and was hoping for some recomendations. Will the Digilux 2 work with the new SDHC cards and if so, is there an upper limit on the capacity, or does it really have to be the standard SD card? Thanks in advance, John. farnz Posted August 11, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 11, 2008 John, The D2 was (I think) released in 2004, which is well before SDHC cards were introduced, and I'm not aware of a firmware update that enables their use (if one was even possible). So I'm sure that they're not compatible with SDHC cards but I use a 'standard' 2GB SD card with mine and I can't recall changing it during the day. Pete. cbretteville Posted August 11, 2008 Share #3 Posted August 11, 2008 Standard, non SDHC 2gb cards are the max a D2 can handle. Use Lexar, Crucial and Sandisk cards in mine. - Carl
ASpes Posted August 11, 2008 Share #4 Posted August 11, 2008 Hi everyone from a relative newcomer to this forum. Sorry to say the Digilux 2 cannot use any SD of the HC variety. This could have been simply cured maybe by a firmware update but none was released, so officially your only one and safe limit is with the 2Gb SD card. There have been (and are?) a few non-standard SD cards (I mean non-HC ones) on the market that allowed for 4Gb, never used them personally but heard reports of other users who did successfully. Anyway just because they are non-standard you should test them on your camera before committing. Hope this helps.
mm0tkl Posted August 11, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted August 11, 2008 OK Folks, many thanks for your help. It looks like a 2Gb SD card is what I need. Regards, John.
sfokevin Posted August 11, 2008 Share #6 Posted August 11, 2008 Here is what I just got for my digilux... You can find it cheaper elsewhere but note the link to a .pdf rebate from Scandisk :> Sandisk 2GB Extreme III SD Memory Card - ePhotoCraft
stuny Posted August 11, 2008 Share #7 Posted August 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) John - Pete is correct that the D2 came out in March 2004, before the new cards. When buying your 2 GB cards buy from a reliable source. There are a lot of counterfeits out there, many on eBay.

Ruhayat Posted August 12, 2008 Share #9 Posted August 12, 2008 I've tested Sandisk Ultra II and Extreme III in my Digilux 2 and there is no difference in write speed. The Ultra II is cheaper so I'd just get that one in the 2GB size.
