rickp13 Posted August 6, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 6, 2008 beautiful images - great cars. coincidentally, there was a midnight blue gto featured on tonight's "overhauling" tv show. thanks for sharing greetings from hamburg rick
stuny Posted August 6, 2008 Share #3 Posted August 6, 2008 Dan - Excellent composition, crop, color and detail. The Goat makes me think of vintage cruising ih high school. The Cobra Daytona Coupe is probably not the genuine article -- the real ones are exceptionally rare (if I recall only 5 or 10 were built), and exceptionally valuable. ddp Posted August 7, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted August 7, 2008 Thanks for the comments guys. Stuart, I would imagine you're right that the Daytona is a replica, I think it was 6 that were made.
andybarton Posted August 7, 2008 Share #5 Posted August 7, 2008 That is one ugly motor What make is it? (We don't have anything this hideous over here) Lovely photographs, though, Dan
stuny Posted August 7, 2008 Share #6 Posted August 7, 2008 Andy - The first is a Pontiac GTO, a highly respected Detroit muscle car. The second is a Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe, and Dan is correct -- Only six were made. I have a lovely die-cat model of the one Dan Gurney drove to victory. On its bumper is a bumper sticker reading, "Dan Gurney for President," a fake campaign launched by Car & Driver magazine. Dan was too young to really run for President (must be at least 35). ddp Posted August 9, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted August 9, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) That is one ugly motor What make is it? (We don't have anything this hideous over here) Lovely photographs, though, Dan Thanks Andy! Are you referring to the semi - fluorescent pickup in the background by any chance? If so, that would be a Dodge Ram most likely with a Hemi motor and a somewhat limited edition status in that realm.
