Rolo Posted July 29, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) After a good day with great company at last Sunday's Morcambe meet, I'll post my images in a single thread - this one, from two exposed films. Additional images will be loaded as the scanning progresses, so please return and add further comments as we go, if you wish. They will be appreciated. Many thanks for looking. Rolo ps, oops ... I'll remove the signature from the Action on future images. Welcome, dear visitor! azzo Posted July 29, 2008 Share #2 Posted July 29, 2008 All are excellent but the 3rd is simply Superb ! Rolo, Very nicely seen, worked and presented.
andybarton Posted July 29, 2008 Share #3 Posted July 29, 2008 It's almost like I was there... Nice work as usual. I think I'll keep mine to myself What film were you using here, pal?
roguewave Posted July 29, 2008 Share #4 Posted July 29, 2008 Rolo, the first is magic. The creamy silver and perfect composition are superb. The second is enjoyable. I believe Andy portrayed those chairs as "Kubrick" like, to which I fully agree. Very cool. The last is interesting, but the back-light hasn't been tamed to my eye. All in all another outstanding set from you. Keep those waves rolling in.
bill_murray Posted July 29, 2008 Share #5 Posted July 29, 2008 I see from other posts these are the newly restored Midland Hotel - did Urban Splash do the restoration? I think B&W show up the Art Deco nature better than the colour photo's on the hotels own site - these and others posted from your meet are first rate. I had the pleasure of a long, hot, day at Tatton.
Michael-IIIf Posted July 29, 2008 Share #6 Posted July 29, 2008 Fabulous. You've really captured the architecture's zeitgeist with this film noire look. Smashing
Rolo Posted July 29, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted July 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) No 4 Thanks Azzo, Andy, Ben - these are really snaps from a few hours with the lads, but any image has to illustrate the passion of the photographer, imv. The glass in the 3rd is opaque, so it's really just a light box. Bill, I wanted Tatton, but stuck with the arrangements. Michael, many thanks. here's one I quite like. Rolo Welcome, dear visitor! By the way Stephanie sent her regards when we were having dinner last night - thanks for the email address:D :D Bill - yes it was done by Urban Splash - rumour has it that its now worth a third of what they spent on doing it up. biglouis Posted July 29, 2008 Share #13 Posted July 29, 2008 Rolo A fine collection of photographs. The staircase captures show a wonderful (and masterful) control of light. I particularly like the poignant feel of the 'Arena Funfair' photograph. LouisB

Rolo Posted July 29, 2008 Author Share #17 Posted July 29, 2008 Well, that's a choice and a trap for a Moderator to fall into. Business first. Also note that the Moderator was the first to throw the towel in as the light was improving. Also note that I was late for lunch - with a little (lot) of luck, the guy that held me back from y'all will buy my motorcycle tomorrow for $16,000 !! Correct $16,000 !! Keep yo fingers and toes crossed for me, please. (USD used because it sounds so much better ! ) Here's Father Christmas. No 7 & 8 Rolo Welcome, dear visitor! roguewave Posted July 30, 2008 Share #18 Posted July 30, 2008 No 4 here's one I quite like. Rolo The best of the lot. Just perfection. Amazing vantage point and processing. Rich, rich, rich tonalities. The bearded man & the first "Arena" are contenders. What lens on the arena? Love the attending sky in that image. Just enough foreboding to rattle the cage, Bravo Maestro!
PhotoArchival Posted July 30, 2008 Share #19 Posted July 30, 2008 Rolo, I like these all very much, especially #'s 1, 3, 4, and 8! From the photo's I've seen from this day so far, it seems to have been a lot of fun. Would have been great to have been around. Amado
stunsworth Posted July 30, 2008 Share #20 Posted July 30, 2008 Superb. Nothing more to add to that.
