I'm about to buy a Konica Hexanon Limited 50 f:1.2 for my Leica M8. I searched the web for informations regarding this lens but i found very few. Does anybody here have this lens and can tell me about it? I found out it is similar to the Leica Noctilux and somebody say it is even better. Tank you in advance for any information about this lens. I have not used this lens myself but its bokeh looks somewhat harsher than that of the Noctilux at first glance. Konica Fast Lenses: M-Hexanon 50mm f1.2 and 60mm f1.2 - Rangefinderforum.com M8 and Konica Hexanon 50mm f1.2 photos to share - Rangefinderforum.com As with the Noctilux, the real problem seems to obtain a good focus at full aperture, an hard task according to people using this kind of lenses. Yes those ones look better at full aperture. Would be interesting to see how the Konica behaves at smaller apertures where bokeh can be harsher with some lenses. I cannot be of any help here sorry. It seems that there is people out there that would not even change their Hexanon with a Noctilux. Did you see the 60? it looks interesting as well. Posted June 19, 2008 Share #7 Posted June 19, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I owned an M-Hexanon 50mm f/1.2 for a few months, and found it to be a good lens, though not a substitute for the Noctilux. The build quality is outstanding, and I found it to be a touch easier to focus than the Noctilux (in part because of the design of the focus ring). gdi Posted June 21, 2008 Share #8 Posted June 21, 2008 I have the 50 - it is probably sharper at 1.2 than the Noctilux at 1.0 (Qualified in that I don't have the Noctilux!) and has a decidedly modern look, including the boke. I don't agree that it has harsher boke than what I have seen of the Noctilux. The boke is very dependent upon the situation - there are plenty of Noctilux samples to support that. Plus, be prepared - you may very well need to have the lens adjusted to the M8. Others seem to have been fine, but mine needed it.... Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thank you for any usefull information. Well the solution I chose was to send it to DAG Camera. Maybe there is someone equally qualified in Europe, but I don't know who it would be, I'm afraid. It is not a f:1.2 lens but it s a fantastic lens, certainly every bit as good as an older 50mm Summicron which I owned and sold when I decided in favor of the Hexanon. We will do that in the next few days and hopefully my focusing problems will be over. And yes, Wilfredo, the Hexanon is spectacular. if you have the chance to put your hands on a Limited edition 50 f:1.2, just try it and let me know.
