elansprint72 Posted June 5, 2008 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Took my car for a rolling road tune-up today; the maestro said "You might want to look in the dyno-cell". Anyone want to guess what exact model of car this motor comes from? Think very, very expensive- so expensive that I could not hold the camera steady. topoxforddoc Posted June 5, 2008 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2008 How about a Ferrari 250 GTO? It looks like one of those classic 1960s Ferrari V12s with big webers. Charlie
m_opel Posted June 5, 2008 Share #3 Posted June 5, 2008 The GTO has 6 carburettors. So maybe 250 GT SWB or 250 Spider California SWB?
elansprint72 Posted June 5, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted June 5, 2008 Damn! Both correct. This motor is from a 250 GTO which is running around with a SWB engine (while the other one is being fixed up properly). I'm giving up on asking clever questions about exotic cars, so: which single component of the "classic" Mini has caused more physical injuries, leading to loss of blood and cursing, than any other? stuny Posted June 5, 2008 Share #5 Posted June 5, 2008 Pete - Though I don't have an answer (never drove the original Mini) your phrasing of the question suggests it is something regarding interior ergonomics.
elansprint72 Posted June 5, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted June 5, 2008 Damn! Both correct. I'm giving up on asking clever questions about exotic cars, so: which single component of the "classic" Mini has caused more physical injuries, leading to loss of blood and cursing, than any other? Having read this, I'm not sure that I explained it too well.... this is the temporary motor, which had been fitted while the "real motor" was being fixed; now that this temporary motor also needs fixing.... another one is in place.... and these SWB engines are about 200GBP each, you can multiply that by five for the GTO engine. No wonder I had some camera shake. As for the Mini question........ it is a cheap part, not on the outside but not part of the interior either. Fips Posted June 7, 2008 Share #9 Posted June 7, 2008 As for the Mini question........ it is a cheap part, not on the outside but not part of the interior either. It must be some bracket around the manifold...
