But I did not say that, I personalised what I said when I said anyone considering as I was. I totally agree both system are equally as good as each other. It really boils down to personal requirements and the depth of ones pockets

Sorry Kenneth but you said "I would say to anyone considering, as I was the choice of Leica M versus Leica R. Leica M hands down" which is pretty clear to me, M is better than R.

Take lots of sports action with long lenses? Is Macro photography your thing? Prefer to see the effects of DoF and or filters? Need very accurate framing? Will an M be better in those situations?

As I've said its a case of the best camera for the job. They are both excellent systems. Enjoy yours!

Ok I take your point but I was referring to one system over the other from my point of view and in fact this came from a reply to something raised by John after we had met the other day in Bradford.

And, yes I guess if push came to shove Leica, to me is M system.

Kenneth, I am glad you are happy, but there are many here who would disagree with your view in this case. The approach to "customer service" at The Classic Camera has been discussed here on many occasions. You don't have to take my word for it, but the fact that Leica have stripped them of their authorised dealer status speaks volumes.

There are many other good dealers, both in London and elsewhere, that offer both new and used Leica equipment at better prices and with more courtesy. I would go as far as to say that I would shop at any of the others before going near TCC ever again.

Regards,

Bill

In Yorkshire we have a saying which is "I speak as I find"- I must say I sense a tone of bitterness in what you say- and I wonder if there is anything at all that you genuinely have a good word for

...and in answer to the original question, today I took my M2, with DR Summicron, to Farnham. It's a picturesque town at any time, but particularly when the sun is shining.

Regards,

Bill

Saturday- I spent the day in bed, not with my Leica or anything or anyone. I have CFS and after the recent highly emotional charge around buying a new camera I needed time out. I do find the process of change highly stressful and even though the teachings of the Buddha says that change is inevitable in all things it shows me how far I have to go to attain enlightenment.

I do hope this theme "Where did you take your Leica today" continues and thank you all for your input regarding my recent camera change

To the Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham. I spent four hours listening to the Blockheads (sans Ian Dury), Duffy (fabulous) and Orchestra Baobab. I had a great time and stood by the barrier at the frontt all evening with my trusty R9/DMR and my 180 cron. I even had a couple of canon pros ask me about the 180 cron!!!

PS None of the stewards gave a monkeys about my camera. The bands even smiled at me!!

I took my MP to my living room. There I made images of my 100 lb. four-legged (canine) son, Samson. I used my pre-ASPH 50/1.4 and Ilford HP5+ rated @ ISO 800.

I am up at Lake Tahoe in California/Nevada with my M8, my D-lux 3 and Pana L1 are here for the ride. Shooting with the Hologon 16mm converted G lens I picked up recently.

This darn lens has such an imposing front element that I spazzed handling the M8 while taking the lens off. I put the most incredible fingerprint on my eyepiece glass that I have ever personally seen. Looked like I dipped my finger in crisco before sticking it on the glass :)

Big bike race up here tomorrow, will try to shoot a few of the colorful riders and I'll pop a few up. It will be fun to shoot moving subjects with something other than a 70-200 nikkor.

Ps- something must be wrong, I am actually winning in the casino today!
