There is something odd going on with both the composition, and the focus around the chin and jaw. You have a stunning model, and a tremendous opportunity. I mean that in a genuine way, I understand her condition could not be easy. But more thought is warranted. Consider too the background, while it is simple, which strikes me as the right idea, there is a light spot growing out of top left frame.

You have the opportunity, and maybe the obligation for achieving something quite complete and quite powerful.

Hi Jeremy; An excellent opportunity. If it's possible for Jen and you, spend more rolls and work the possibilities as well as the edges of her daily life, a bit of reportage? IMO she deserves attention; very beautiful face, good eyes, good everything, worth everything.

jeremy - this is really great portrait. i love that it is presented the way it is - first of all her face in full attention, only then u see the hair problems. it makes the portrait far more personal - she is a person forst of all not her alopecia.

as uwe says, work more in reportage or whatever u want if se doesnt mind.

Jeremy -

I find myself in disagreement with Rob, which is fairly unusual. I really like this portrait, and find the receding focus to the right of the face to add to the strenght of the photo. Her head tilt is perfect, the slight toning adds to the image, the focus on her soulful eyes and patient mouth is lovely, the light works very well to bring out the freckes on the left and hiding them in the brightness on the right, the framing is ideal, and the background brightness in the upper left helps define the portion of the skull in front of it.

Jeremy,

Your model is gorgeous; with eyes and features like hers, who would notice hair? Your use of a narrow range of focus, framing, and b&w as a medium makes for a warm and intimate portrait. You both really have it going on! Thanks for sharing this image and please give us more.

Best regards,

Frank M.
