Guest guy_mancuso Posted September 12, 2006 Share #41 Posted September 12, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Geoff for the update on that and maybe 2.0 announcement will bring new benifits and functions. As far as CS2 and raw files , I found the calibration so far off on the default for the DMR . Another wedding shooter JR Geoffrin ( maybe spelled wrong) did come up with a nice calibration to be applied to CS2 for the DMR that was clearly a major improvement to the files and really was so much better than what Adobe did. I agree C1 does not support everything and obviously will not support leaf backs from Aptus because they are Phase One , so yes you do need to look elsewhere for the Leaf backs. Several friends that i know are using Raw Developer by Irident that is really good on the Mac side of the house. I have tried it on the DMR files and it does a great job also. Again we need a forum for all this Post , Color mangagement control as I mentioned in another thread . There will be thousands of new M8 users that are coming from film and need to dialogue about all this stuff and how to work there raw files. This is something that the sponsors of this forum really need to think about. It is one thing to sell them but another to give them the resources to work them. earleygallery Posted September 12, 2006 Share #42 Posted September 12, 2006 Howard, sorry you ain't convinced me! Unless you know something I don't I'm still saying they're fake!
pascal_meheut Posted September 12, 2006 Share #43 Posted September 12, 2006 Unless you know something I don't I'm still saying they're fake! Can we expect you to apologize for your mistake at least ten times if it occurs these pictures were not fake as you said so at least ten times ? lct Posted September 12, 2006 Author Share #44 Posted September 12, 2006 Can we expect you to apologize for your mistake... I'd prefer a bottle or pure malt personally. OK James?
pascal_meheut Posted September 12, 2006 Share #45 Posted September 12, 2006 Even better: an M8 offered to those who have been saying these pictures were not fake
earleygallery Posted September 12, 2006 Share #46 Posted September 12, 2006 I'm happy to be proven wrong - well not happy because if I am proven wrong then I will be a tad disappointed in the final design - but I still feel that the pictures don't look right. The camera that we see on Friday may look 90 or 95% the same, but it won't look 100% like the photos we see here. What do I get if I'm right? I do think that we should have a forum specifically devoted to post-processing. Cheers, Sean
sean_reid Posted September 12, 2006 Share #48 Posted September 12, 2006 Pure speculation, of course. Friday morning we'll know. --HC Hi Howard, To be specific, I'll publish an article on new Leica products at 12:01 AM so anyone who wants to stay up late Thursday night can dig in after the stroke of midnight. Cheers, Sean
pascal_meheut Posted September 12, 2006 Share #49 Posted September 12, 2006 So now we've gone from fake to 95% right ? Not a fair game because even if this pictures are genuine, I'm sure you'll find some 5% out of nowwhere...

Sean-- Obviously 00.01 rolls around the globe, so E.P. may beat you to it. Consider this: Alaska sits on, and Hawaii lies across the Date Line. Perhaps publish as soon as it turns 00.01 *somewhere* ? --HC

Not a fair game because even if this pictures are genuine, I'm sure you'll find some 5% out of nowwhere... Pascal, I have already said in another thread (or might be a couple of other threads!) that it will obviously look very similar - it's an M right? - but specifically the photos posted on this site just don't look real. If they are real then the 'real' camera will be identical in every respect will it not? Dodgy graphics & diy style 'back door' included. Just to clarify, I expect it to look very similar to a current M, yes we know it has a deeper body, no advance lever, LCD screen on rear and probably on top etc etc, but it will not be the camera we have seen in these threads, of that I'm sure. If I'm wrong then - subject to handling/using a working example - I would have some doubts over the design and thought that had gone into it. I am seriously considering an M8 but it would mean wholesale changes for me (selling most of my film gear to fund it etc) and I hope it is a camera to fulfil our wishes for a digital M. Anyway, I'm not going to say any more until Friday...........
pascal_meheut Posted September 12, 2006 Share #52 Posted September 12, 2006 The real camera will be identical in every respect, you can bet on it.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted September 12, 2006 Share #53 Posted September 12, 2006 To be real honest it is not a photograph at all , it looks more like a 3d Cad illustration. Reason it looks fake, it may very well be it but it is not shot by any camera or PS
pascal_meheut Posted September 12, 2006 Share #54 Posted September 12, 2006 I think these are the pictures of the official Leica brochure and if this is a real link, it came from the printing shop of something like that. This explains why they show the real M8 but do not look like photographs to Guy.
pascal_meheut Posted September 12, 2006 Share #55 Posted September 12, 2006 Sorry, read "real leak", not "real link"
Guest guy_mancuso Posted September 12, 2006 Share #56 Posted September 12, 2006 Pascal it just looks way to perfect. Plus the shadows are a dead give away. There actually crossed and cut off on one side . Plus you won't get a long shadow like that if it is actually sitting on a white surface. But it really doe's not matter at the end of the day what is announced and shown plus what it can and can't do is what counts. 3 days and counting, man we have been waiting for this for a long time and i still can't decide to buy or not. i think Leica needs to send me one to test against the DMR. I think we need a poll. Does Guy deserve a test unit or not. LOL After exhaustive testing of the DMR you damn right i do. ROTFLMAO

albertwang Posted September 12, 2006 Share #58 Posted September 12, 2006 I doubt that Erwin reviews new Leica products anymore? I think after his dismissive review of the DMR, didn't Leica says Sorry Erwin you're out?

I think after his dismissive review of the DMR, didn't Leica says Sorry Erwin you're out? He has never been in their pocket, but there is no one anywhere with a greater respect for what Leica is doing. My guess is that he'll be there with a report ASAP. --HC
