JHAG Posted March 14, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) … a father at my boy's school was wandering about in the yard with a camera… It was a D3. Angora Posted March 17, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 17, 2008 … a father at my boy's school was wandering about in the yard with a camera…It was a D3. We chatted a little. He went to Leica, coming from Sony. Is it really a good news?
sdai Posted March 17, 2008 Share #3 Posted March 17, 2008 D3 is a Nikon camera.
marknorton Posted March 17, 2008 Share #4 Posted March 17, 2008 I would love to know whether "Project Digilux-3" has turned a profit. The Leica people on the Digilux 3 booth at Photokina 2006 looked pretty glum and I doubt they have smiled since. The only person who is laughing is the salesman who sold it to your friend... spylaw4 Posted March 17, 2008 Share #5 Posted March 17, 2008 D3 is a Nikon camera. On this website it's shorthand for a Digilux
luigi bertolotti Posted March 17, 2008 Share #6 Posted March 17, 2008 I do not know if, WORLDWIDE, Leica brand is re-catching on... I had three personal small events in the last 3-4 months : - Unknown people into my shop : for what I heard, coming from a Nikon compact zoom 35 mm and a Casio Digital : discussed with the dealer... went away with a Digilux 3. - A friend (female) of my wife ... Nikon FE SLR (macro zoom lens) and a Minox 35mm ... asked me : "hey, I've always seen you with that old Leica... (M4...were many months she didn't see me... ), I've seen a digital Leica well compact but with a strong zoom... how is with digital ?..." - She bought a V-Lux - A friend of mine... hard devoted to his TWO 6x6 Rolleiflexes (normal + tele) : "Damn... one MUST go digital, don't escape... what about your M8 ?...." He hasn't YET bought it...
Iron Flatline Posted March 17, 2008 Share #7 Posted March 17, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'll say it again: I think the 4/3rds System is actually a good idea, it just needs bigger sensors. I also really like the quirkiness of the Digilux 3, but I think the market wants something that looks like a "real" SLR...
stevelap Posted March 17, 2008 Share #8 Posted March 17, 2008 On this website it's shorthand for a Digilux 3 Well it shouldn't be! Sorry for the minor rant, but this name hijacking by the 4/3rds junta is driving me mad (there must be a full moon or something:) ). A D3 is a Nikon camera and a Digilux 3 is a (Pana)Leica camera. Enough, already! Steve

marknorton Posted March 18, 2008 Share #13 Posted March 18, 2008 Let's be honest though, the news that someone has been seen actually using a Digilux 3 is hardly going to have then breathing again in Solms but at least they have now been able to confirm their sales figures... stevelap Posted March 18, 2008 Share #14 Posted March 18, 2008 Now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever seen one outside of a Leica dealer's. Steve

earleygallery Posted March 18, 2008 Share #16 Posted March 18, 2008 A D3 is a Nikon camera and a Digilux 3 is a (Pana)Leica camera. Enough, already! Steve It's actually Panasonic. Pana could refer to Panavision, Panoramic, or Panacotta which is a dessert and not a camera.

And a very nice dessert it is too, although along with my Italian friends I prefer Mascarpone. Steve
dfarkas Posted March 18, 2008 Share #18 Posted March 18, 2008 I'll say it again: I think the 4/3rds System is actually a good idea, it just needs bigger sensors.... Umm... the whole idea of 4/3rds is the smaller sensor, isn't it? Smaller cameras and smaller lenses with 2x lens factor and telecentric optical paths. dfarkas Posted March 18, 2008 Share #20 Posted March 18, 2008 Mark, Let's not get hung up on the details... I never said that I was a fan of 4/3rds.. just stating the intention of the system. David
