jsrockit Posted March 19, 2010 Share #21 Posted March 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm thinking of getting the pancake II version. Wonder if anyone has any experience as to whether this lens is useable without the 6-bit coding on the M8 with UV/IR filter. Thanks Yes, completely usable and a really great lens. So cheap for what you get.
Advertisement Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Hi jsrockit, Take a look here 35mm F/2.5 Skopar classic ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thinkfloyd Posted March 19, 2010 Share #22 Posted March 19, 2010 Great to hear all this! I was saving up for a Summicron or Summarit, but had some financial problems. So instead of waiting, I got a 35/2.5 PII in the meantime, to be replaced when I have the funds... looks like I won't be needing to replace it anymore given the rave reviews here! (It's being shipped as of the moment, now I'm more eager to get it!)
paisatge Posted March 19, 2010 Share #23 Posted March 19, 2010 Thanks for the replies. I'm going to order one.
Snakepottery Posted March 19, 2010 Share #24 Posted March 19, 2010 A lovely picture Francoise. I take it that it was a Leica 35mm Summicron Asph lens? Andy

(It's being shipped as of the moment, now I'm more eager to get it!) That was exactly the same position as I was in a few months ago when I bought my M8, paid a bit more for a mint one from a reputable dealer and did not have enough funds for a Cron. I was so concerned I would end up with an inferior lens and other issues, I needn't have worried and so glad I went for the PII over the Nokton too. I'm off for the weekend with it mounted on the front of my newly acquired M2 and can't wait to try it out, I'm sure it will be a supreme performer on that camera too. SiOnara Posted March 19, 2010 Share #26 Posted March 19, 2010 This is a straight out of camera B&W JPEG @ 1250 iso + crop in a dimly lit London restaurant. CV 35/2.5 Color Skopar bayonet fitting. This is the pancake II lens. I got this second hand in perfect condition for £250. For the money I love it. Welcome, dear visitor! earleygallery Posted March 19, 2010 Share #27 Posted March 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's a great lens. OK I use it on an M2, but I'm sure it works equally well on a digital M. There are no optical differences between the various screw and M versions. I like the screw version with the focus tab and included lens hood. Now I'm really stoked! @Megadust: That shot is awesome. The resolution is great! And also, for a 1250 shot, it's pretty clean looking My next problem now is looking for a UV/IR filter and hood, living in the Philippines makes it hard for me to get stuff for the M8
cidereye Posted March 20, 2010 Share #29 Posted March 20, 2010 Recent BW shot also @ ISO 1250 wide open in very, very poorly lit conditions. Welcome, dear visitor! SiOnara Posted March 20, 2010 Share #30 Posted March 20, 2010 I know the Leica lenses are the best but until I have a few thousand pounds hanging around to purchase one, this little lens serves my needs well
slaphotk Posted March 20, 2010 Share #31 Posted March 20, 2010 Hi I just received my chrome M8.2 and am really excited! I'm considering as my first lens either the CV 28mm/F3.5 or the 35mm F/2.5 classic, chrome/silver in either instance. My two questions are: 1- Besides the difference in focal length and aperture, are both lens equally sharp, same level of contrast, color etc? I intend to use my selection 90% of the time outside. 2- Do any of these lens experience any issues since they are not 6 bit coded? I've already purchased the required 39mm UV/IR filter... Thanks!
