leica dream Posted February 24, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 24, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does the quality of a UV filter affect the quality of digital pictures. When I purchased my V-Lux1 I opted for a "basic" (as in cheapest - B + W not Leica) UV Filter. Does anyone know whether the optical quality of such filters varies greatly or is critical. If critical what would you recommend - should I now replace with Leica? Richard
Advertisement Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Hi leica dream, Take a look here UV Filter quality. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cbretteville Posted February 24, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 24, 2008 If you get the F-PRO/MRC filters from B+W they are excellent. Don't go cheap and get the non-MRC. Get the Leica? Probably not necessary. - C
earleygallery Posted February 24, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 24, 2008 I would suggest that you take a photo without the filter, then the same photo with filter. See if you can tell the difference. On the basis that the best quality will be without filter, if your filter shot is just as sharp etc., then you know its fine. FWIW I bet you won't see any difference.
