fotografr Posted February 25, 2008 Share #8 Posted February 25, 2008 With a 90??? Man, did you pet her after getting the shot? Beautiful comp and use of light. Great photo all around. Glad you weren't her lunch. From the angle, it doesn't even look like it was shot from a Land Rover.
Mauribix Posted February 25, 2008 Share #9 Posted February 25, 2008 Yep, really great colours, and perfect light caught! Best Maurizio
jaapv Posted February 25, 2008 Share #10 Posted February 25, 2008 Great shot. Of course Duba Plains is one of my favorite areas - and camps btw. And yes, Brent, one can get that close, in top areas with top guides. It is probably shot from a vehicle at this distance and it is excellent that Mike managed to avoid the bird perspective that is often seen then. The angle really makes this shot. michali Posted February 26, 2008 Author Share #13 Posted February 26, 2008 Heni, Maurizio, Gunnar & Peter- Thanks for the comments, really appreciated, this is one of my favoritenlion pics. Brent- Thanks for the comments. We got in quite close she was watching some buffalo about 100 metres away, so she was ignoring us. I also had no door on my side & managed to squeeze myself onto the floor of the Land Rover to get a lower angle. Jaap- Duba is also one of my favorite areas in Botswana, plenty of interaction between lion and buffalo. Have you seen Dereck & Beverly Joubert's documentary, "Relentless Enemies: Lion & Buffalo" filmed at Duba?Very gripping stuff! Thanks again, MIKE
