(There are some bargain hotel rooms to be had via laterooms.com on this date if you're quick... )

spylaw4 Posted April 1, 2008 Share #50 Posted April 1, 2008 Should be OK, but I'm at the theatre that evening so I would have to get back sharpish.

topoxforddoc Posted April 2, 2008 Share #52 Posted April 2, 2008 By the way, There's an Ansel Adams Museum Collection showing at the Modern Art Oxford Museum in Pembroke St running until 1st June. It opened today and the prints were fab as you might expect. It's also FREE, which I didn't!! Charlie
elansprint72 Posted April 23, 2008 Share #53 Posted April 23, 2008 How about the 10th May? I can visit my Mum on her Birthday at the same time. I have a jar of pickle and some shampoo that she can have. (There are some bargain hotel rooms to be had via laterooms.com on this date if you're quick... ) You folks will no doubt be relieved to know that 10th May is my birthday too (no need for expensive presents, just spend what you did last year + inflation) and.... I'll be back "home" in The Lake District for three days. So do have an enjoyable week-end in "The Other Place", I look forward to seeing your shots of mellowed stone covered in scaffolding. dhsimmonds Posted May 1, 2008 Share #54 Posted May 1, 2008 What time is everyone meeting at The Turf on saturday 10th May? I'll try to be there, sans crested or any other darned tie!
farnz Posted May 1, 2008 Share #55 Posted May 1, 2008 Hows about 1-ish for a little light luncheon and lashings of beer to allow our Friends from the North time to wend their way down? (I appear to have unexpectedly teleported into a scene from the Famous Five. ) Pete.
spylaw4 Posted May 3, 2008 Share #56 Posted May 3, 2008 It looks as though I won't be able to make it - the timing to get back home and thence to the theatre makes it just a bit too tight. Groans of diappointment all round - or was that a muted cheer I heard?
farnz Posted May 3, 2008 Share #57 Posted May 3, 2008 If meeting a little earlier would help, Brian, perhaps you could suggest an alternative time so we can see if it suits others. I can probably get to Oxford by about 10.30 without beating the birds out of bed. (The flying variety - and I meant it figuratively before someone pokes fun at me! ) Pete. spylaw4 Posted May 3, 2008 Share #58 Posted May 3, 2008 It's a great and helpful idea Pete, but by the time I do the standard Sat am chores..... I'm unlikely to be leaving London until around 10:30. So all in all I regret that this time I"ll have to pass. I"ll be at the E.End meet 14 June tho'.!
dotandcom Posted May 3, 2008 Share #59 Posted May 3, 2008 I didn't think I could make this meeting but due to lack of public demand I am now unexpectedly available and would like to come along if no-one objects (or even if they do). I work in Oxford, know it very well and have been known to teach courses on its history and architecture. I'll be happy to offer a guided tour or just suggestions if wanted. No need to worry about ties, crested or otherwise. It's the Bear, not the Turf Tavern that has the collection of club ties. I shall look forward to meeting everyone. All the best, Chris
farnz Posted May 3, 2008 Share #60 Posted May 3, 2008 Great news, Chris! It'd be interesting to see/photo/hear about the less well-known parts of Oxford. Pete.
