Advertisement Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Hi christer, Take a look here Steven K.Lee gone. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TEBnewyork Posted February 22, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2008 I don't know if this info about Mr. Lee is correct.... I just saw this on DPReview: Leica CEO Stephen K. Lee dismissed: Leica Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review so I googled Leica and see this: vwdgroup: excellence in financial solutions
andybarton Posted February 22, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 22, 2008 Last we'll see of the R10, then...?
Shootist Posted February 22, 2008 Share #4 Posted February 22, 2008 I'm not sure if this is good or bad, for we the customers. Although the report seems to be legitimate. Everyone here on these forums, especially the M8 forum, know it has been a struggle getting work done CORRECTLY and in a timely manor on M8's and lenses (Lenses that shouldn't need work, like NEW lenses). Whether this is a reflection on the man at the top, Mr. Lee, or that the people working at Leica AG just didn't like working under him we the customers may never know. The only thing I do know is that it shouldn't get any worse and hopefully better. Only time will tell.
Shootist Posted February 22, 2008 Share #5 Posted February 22, 2008 Last we'll see of the R10, then...? Andy why do you say that? IMO for Leica to survive they need a SLR digital camera or somehow draw more people to the M digital.
sandymc Posted February 22, 2008 Share #6 Posted February 22, 2008 "mit sofortiger Wirkung abberufen" = dismissed with immediate effect. Pretty pointed sort of a way to put it, especially for a German company; looks like there's an inside story to be told here...... Sandy

ruiespanhol Posted February 22, 2008 Share #8 Posted February 22, 2008 Finally!!! Leica is one German Company and should be comand by German people. I have one friend mine who works at Leica here in Portugal and many people not like the style and work method from Mr.Lee. So many people are happy whit this end of Mr.Lee at Leica Best,

Kasimir Posted February 22, 2008 Share #12 Posted February 22, 2008 I don't know if Mr. Lee was a bad or a good CEO. All I know is that this will postpone my decision to buy an M8 cause I don't know if they will stick to the upgrade program, if there will be a M9 at the Photokina... So, this is at least a bad decision for me Otherwise I'm sorry for Leica cause this proof for the fact that Leica yet hasn't found a consistent marketing strategy. andym911 Posted February 22, 2008 Share #13 Posted February 22, 2008 I just spoke with someone at Solms and it is confirmed with immediate effect. There were no tears being shed that's for sure. andy
stevelap Posted February 22, 2008 Share #14 Posted February 22, 2008 Oh dear, turmoil at the top hot on the heels of the upgrade programme announcement and only seven-months to photokina. Interesting times ahead perhaps? Steve
dominic Posted February 22, 2008 Share #15 Posted February 22, 2008 According to the extra-Blatt from Leica bei Meister: "Über diese Entlassung können wir uns auf jeden Fall freuen." = "On that dismissal we can anyway be delighted about"

IF you had postponed your purchase of a M8 until now then more then likely you would of never bought one. Mr. Lee being dismissed has nothing to do with that fact. There won't be an M9 at the Photokina... And even if, it would cost at least 10.000 Euro.
