woodda Posted February 13, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not sure what people think but would a survey and or poll be helpful. Any thoughts. Would be good to reward those shops who have got in right in peoples minds. Maybe scores in each area of Customer service, Ambiance, Stock, Aftersales etc

johnastovall Posted February 13, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 13, 2008 Here in the U.S.A., it's Tony Rose and PopFlash.
nikkus Posted February 13, 2008 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2008 In Canada it has to be Camtec Photo in Montreal. The owner Jean Bardaji is excellent. He really helps the purchase process. After sales is first rate. he never losses interest in helping a customer.

dhsimmonds Posted February 14, 2008 Share #6 Posted February 14, 2008 As an R system user it wouldn't be Robert White for me! I think that at this moment of time I would probably have to say Classic Camera in London. It all depends whether one is buying used or new really. CC for new and probably Ffordes for used in the UK. earleygallery Posted February 15, 2008 Share #8 Posted February 15, 2008 The problem is, to rate a dealer fairly one would really need to have experience of all the other dealers as well, and over several visits. I bought a copy of LFI from TCC and I would have to rate them 100% for that (item in stock, was served quickly, charged the cover price etc). If I rated them on my previous visit when I was looking for a 35mm lens and flash connector for my M2, I'd have to rate them ZERO (unhelpful, not willing to spare time to show me lenses or offer to put them on a body, left me waiting for ages whilst all the staff dealt with a single other customer etc). Might be more useful to state what our expectations are so that dealers (I would hope that any Leica dealer worth their salt would visit from time to time) can learn what their customers want. In no particular order I would say; Basic good customer service (friendly, helpful, knowledgable, attentive) Reasonable stock of both new and s/h items Stock film/batteries/filters/accessories etc as well as the big ticket stuff Offer part ex or commission sales Have a good regularly updated web site No hassle approach if things go wrong - clear exchange/refund or repair policy As they say, it's not rocket science, but apparently very easy to get it so wrong. peter_n Posted February 15, 2008 Share #9 Posted February 15, 2008 Here in the US it has to be Tony Rose of Popflash. New, used, after-sales service, the lot. He is excellent.

robert_parker Posted February 21, 2008 Share #13 Posted February 21, 2008 For me, The Classic Camera for new and ex-demo stcok. I'd also use them without hestiation for secondhand lenses, maybe Ffordes for secondhand or new accessories and possibly some ex-demo items
andybarton Posted February 21, 2008 Share #14 Posted February 21, 2008 I wouldn't ever bother with The Classic Camera (Pied Bull Yard) ever again, given the way that I was treated there last time I was in. And as for the prices...
