sdai Posted February 8, 2008 Share #4 Posted February 8, 2008 It appears that our forum discussion has provided a lot of inspiration to the LFI editors, I'm looking forward to learning from their next article on why R10 all in a sudden turns to AF - sounds like a major downgrade from MF. So, Leica spent x number of years, poured x amount of cash ... on an auto focus new camera, booked x square footage of floor at the Photokina, only to find and announce that manual focus works the best. Wouldn't that sound stupid? Congratulations, Doug. Keep up your good work!
dhsimmonds Posted February 8, 2008 Share #5 Posted February 8, 2008 Doug, allow me to add to the many other notes of congratulations. Very well deserved as we don't see too many wildlife photographers work in LFI and a masterly explanation of why MF works for you and why it could work for many others. Angora Posted February 8, 2008 Share #7 Posted February 8, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Doug, allow me to add to the many other notes of congratulations. Very well deserved as we don't see too many wildlife photographers work in LFI and a masterly explanation of why MF works for you and why it could work for many others. That's what I also think... in addition, you're one of the best source of knowledge when it comes to the Leicaflexes... congrats Doug!
rob_x2004 Posted February 8, 2008 Share #8 Posted February 8, 2008 Cool as. Get Doug to sign a copy and send it to Bill to auction.
gravastar Posted February 9, 2008 Share #9 Posted February 9, 2008 Let me add my congratulations as well, very well deserved. I always have a nostalgic moment when I fly from the UK and pass over Sacramento valley on the way to LA. As Doug says he likes to manual focus with the composition in place. Let's hope the R10 will have a Leicaflex screen and the ability to manually focus with older lenses. Bob.

Guest jimmy pro Posted February 10, 2008 Share #16 Posted February 10, 2008 Well I never heard of Doug and I quit getting LFI after my trial subscription ran out years ago but I know getting published is a great feeling no matter where or why so congradulations man, way to go! I'd say congrads are in order to LFI and Leica too, because Canon and Nikon have got all the big names in there pocket, so they should be really greatfull finding a bird photographer who uses Leicas and furthermore a bunch of people seem to know who he is. Again, congrads and GO LEICA!

garyp Posted February 11, 2008 Share #19 Posted February 11, 2008 Doug I'd kinda like to hear about how the selection of the photos that were used came about, if you'd care to share it with us. That must have been a lot of fun as well as a bit of pressure. Again, this is excellent to hear about ! GaryP
wildlightphoto Posted February 12, 2008 Share #20 Posted February 12, 2008 I'd kinda like to hear about how the selection of the photos that were used came about I would too! They asked for several and made their decisions based on layout and such. Thanks for all the responses, the online Leica-using community has been a big help so I can honestly say THANKS to all of you!
