hektor Posted September 2, 2008 Share #10 Posted September 2, 2008 Thank-you Karl, Chris and Peter, At the moment I am concentrating on taking pictures rather than playing with equipment. After reading Erwin Puts book in 2001 I reviewed my lenses, which I had not done for ten years and as a result sold some and bought others. I am now settled with what I have from both an historical point of view and more importantly for picture making. The Leica I (1926) has just returned from Ottmar Michaely and it is fabulous. It really is fun with 12 ISO orthochromatic film facing the challenges of the early Leica photographers. The fun now is with film where I am trying all the "different" and small name brands (Adox, Bergger, Maco, Rollei) to see their pictorial effects. IMHO technical perfection can be unemotional, a dimension which has its place for technical subjects, however it is the aberrations in both films and lenses that I am playing with for more subjective results. Catch you later. Justin
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted September 2, 2008 Share #11 Posted September 2, 2008 Hello Justin, thx. for your post no. 100 ! Congratulation. Good to see you are still going strong, leicawise. Enjoy your gear. I have an M2 which was >>made<< by O. M. recently and it is really a beauty now. Have fun with your Barnack- LEICA, the older ones all went through his hands personally. A nice thought, IMHO. Best wishes Karl
hektor Posted September 2, 2008 Share #12 Posted September 2, 2008 Hello Karl, If I only had one Leica it would be the M2; My M7 a la carte gets close with the advantage of in-house metering, however it does not have the quality feel of the M2. It also has a too busy viewfinder and when it is out of warranty Ottmar will blank out the 50 and 135 frames for me. Kind regards, Justin
