vic vic Posted August 31, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 31, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) my sister and her husband :-) now this wedding supposed to be more than month ago, but the war started and haifa was under bombardment. so a week ago - back to the old plans - the long awaited wedding. just a few snaps... the pity is that, may sister and mother refused that i will take photos in the religious ceremony. there is a beautiful and exiting religious ceremony in jewish weddings - beautiful traition. anyway - mp, 28, fp4 (rodinal of course)
Advertisement Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Hi vic vic, Take a look here wedding. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
albertwang Posted August 31, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 31, 2006 Photos 1 and 3 I really liked. I would have cropped number 3 closer to emphasize the intimacy Great feel with wedding photo journalism. I really don't care for posed wedding photos. boring stuff especially here in Utah, wedding land of... well. I think that taking a more relaxed approach shows the relationship between the couple which is what marriage is all about!
vic vic Posted August 31, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted August 31, 2006 thanks albert:-) albert - believe me - wedding photographers are about the same everywhere :-)))) dont know what is wrong with most of them - i hink there are simply not educated enough. anyway - those photograpoers u can see in the frame with cameras... they made 1,700 photos. can u imagine :-) i didnt do 1/3 of it on single biggest my documentary project - not to mention fashion and other kind assignments where 200 photos is the maximum limit i can imagine (not neccessarly photograph:-))))) but there are some good wedding photoggs i have to admit, very few though. mwilliamsphotography Posted September 1, 2006 Share #6 Posted September 1, 2006 "albert - believe me - wedding photographers are about the same everywhere :-))))" Really? You have to get out more often. Times have changed and so has wedding photography.
semrich Posted September 1, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 1, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Victor, Congradulation to them and you for the photos. No poses just emotion, they will make a nice addition to their album along with all the others you have posted here of them being together. vic vic Posted September 1, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted September 1, 2006 thanks alot richard, welcome back to the forum :-)) mark - no doubt, dont take wrong. i have mentioned in the same post that there are very good photogs, but at least in israel very few. and ya - young generation got a better education usually, and do try to get better, but still, in work, most of them turn to the same "blind shoting". earleygallery Posted September 1, 2006 Share #13 Posted September 1, 2006 Nice shots. I've covered a number of weddings, work was coming in regularly but I had to give it up due to other commitments at the time. I'd do them again if asked but I'm not going looking for the work. The kitcsh photo's referred to are generally what people want! It's difficult not to do some of the standard poses/groups as it is meant to be a record of the day as well as having some more creative shots. You'd be surprised how many people really want a photo of themselves in a brandy glass!!
Guest chriisi Posted September 1, 2006 Share #14 Posted September 1, 2006 sure your right... but we aren't normal people.. (we work with m's ).. and i just hate all these posed pics..
squanmis Posted September 1, 2006 Share #15 Posted September 1, 2006 Love the series. But not crazy about #2 too many people trying to take pictures. Thanks, John
albertwang Posted September 1, 2006 Share #16 Posted September 1, 2006 Sounds good... if I get married soon, anybody up to shooting the wedding of me and the gal?
vic vic Posted September 1, 2006 Author Share #17 Posted September 1, 2006 thanks alot for your comments :-) james - u defenetly got thr point here. indeed, many people are mad about those kitschs:-) u know, those photographers behind are good freinds of my mom and x-neighbours and they are one of the most successful wedding photo bussens in our city. so this is why i gave up with my mom and didnt assigned a couple of photogs i do trust. anyway, the guy there tried to impress me somehow (probably he wants that i will send him models for first time "books" for some addittional income). now hold :-)) he showed me photos that he calls artistics. hold again - photo converted to b/w with some milk like look and red roses made red in photoshop :-)))) i really didnt know how to react to "artistic". didnt want to say what i think, cause then my mom would say that i make her shy with her friends with my behaviour and the way i speack :-)))
mwilliamsphotography Posted September 1, 2006 Share #18 Posted September 1, 2006 You don't need to do Kitchy work to get booked for weddings. In fact the opposite is now true. Look at Jeff Ascoughs work ... and oh, maybe a thousand other "really talented" PJ type shooters. Straight formal shooters are going out of business all over the place because wedding photography underwent a revolution. I'm booked well into 2007 based on mostly B&W candid work, many of which were done with a M-7 (but certainly not exclusively). http://www.fotografz.com
albertwang Posted September 1, 2006 Share #19 Posted September 1, 2006 Yes, formal wedding shooters are boring. I'm sorry but in Utah it is a cottage industry and pretty much an insult to creativity. Sadly enough, the clients don't complain about it enough.
palmskov Posted September 1, 2006 Share #20 Posted September 1, 2006 All nice shots. I like the reportage style. What a shame you can't take photos during the ceremony. After reading the comments it's my opinion that all photographers, not only wedding, must first of all add creativity to their shots in order to make them outstanding and remarkable. Thank for your comments on my wedding project by the way...
