I’ve been playing around with this new update, and I have to say the camera feels brand new and super responsive! The autofocus we’ve all been waiting for is finally here—not quite Sony-level, but the focus is incredibly fast and accurate. I really like the new menu design, it’s so clear and easy to navigate! I haven’t run into any bugs or problems at all since the update, and honestly, it was a breeze to get through.

how does new AF cope with multiple people in the frame? that's been the achilles heel for me

Excellent - I've been waiting for this one ever since Jono discussed it in his Q3M review. I hoped it would come before Christmas.

Hmmm. I plan to use the Q3 43 for a play performance tonight. I just have time to update before then.
Should I risk it?
Of course!
Yee-hah!

Please report your experience with the new autofocus. If it really has improved, will be a wonderful christmas gift.

I like the feature that I can delete the default leica look (i.e. high contrast mono, vivid...) to make spaces for other leica look.

Of course the standard and mono can not be deleted.

Excellent, I didn't see that yet!  It's been on my wishlist forever to get rid of the default looks I never use!

Another thing I discovered after updating is that the options I had for each Func button and the wheel are no longer there.  The defaults are there when I load a profile, but it repopulated the list with ALL the options for each control.  IE, I had the thumb wheel set to only let me choose between ISO and Exp Comp when I hold it down with ISO as the default.  After the update ISO is still my default, but if I press and hold the thumb wheel down I once again have a list of ALL options I can assign to the wheel and not just ISO and Exp Comp.  Not a huge deal, but thought I'd let me people know.

Definitely going to do reset now and set it all up from scratch, seems the safest option after such a big update.

After updating my Leica Q3 to Firmware Version 4, I can no longer pair the camera with the Leica Fotos app.

Instead of connecting, I always receive the message that I should restart my iPhone. Even after several restarts, the problem persists.

I am using an iPhone running iOS 26.2 together with the latest version of the Leica Fotos app.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Are there any known workarounds or official notes from Leica on how to restore pairing?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I had to repair my cam with the app.

The camera feels completely different. Focusing is much better, including tracking. However, there are a few oddities:

1. If face detection is enabled in tracking mode, the focusing rectangle remains stationary and doesn't follow the subject.

2. In tracking mode (face detection off), AF-L acts like a half-pressed shutter button rather than a focus lock. This prevents it from being used as a BBF replacement (a shame!).

I couldn't resist the update and everything works except what you and others are discovering.  It errors when trying to connect with my IOS 26.2 iPhone Fotos App.  I have removed the cam from the bluetooth setting and re-paired the cam three times.  Same issue.  Looks like Leica and IOS are going to need a meeting of the minds.  Hope they correct this soon since as a pleasure cam, I use FOTOS a lot.  I suppose I'll just take my EDC pics with my iPhone!!!!  Not!   In the meantime I will just remove the SD card and copy my files.  I do like the interface better than the old.

I believe the connection is reset during the install process.  Something to do with EU regulations.  You will need to redo the connection.  Don't ask me how, since somehow it magically happened for me.  The Leica god works in mysterious ways.

Can anyone assist please?  I've just upgraded to firmware 4.0 and everything seems to be fine except the the Battery Condition function is n/a.  I am using BP-SCL6 batteries as suggested, and every time I switch the camera on I get a message "Please use battery type "BP-SCL6" for full functionality.   Is this indicative of an issue?

So I have an older battery, that I had bought as a spare for a Q2 that I no longer own, and I got the message. What sort of functionality does it not support? And why? Anyone know?

Yes some of us are seeing this.  When I switch from a user profile to default mine always freezes. Other profile switching seems ok. ill stay away from default as I don't use it anyway

Yup, see this also (Q3-43).

Switching from Default to a User Profile by the LCD touch screen takes longer than I might have expected but works.

Switching from a User Profile to the Default via the touch screen hangs the camera (circle graphic), turning off then on, the camera will start in the Default profile.

However switching from a User Profile to the Default and vice versa via the menu system (User Profiles) works as expected (camera does not hang) and the change seems essentially instantaneous (no obvious delay).

(I am using a newly created User Profile)

Switching to the default profile the first time also caused a freeze for me. The problem hasn't recurred since then.

Well the bar was pretty low to start with, but now (in my limited testing thus far) things are considerably better. My Sony A1 II is way better still, but for what I use my Q bodies for this update makes it finally more than good enough. I am very pleasantly surprised 🙂

(I've only tested on the Q3 28, haven’t updated the Q3 43 yet)
