Oh, damn. I just updated and was having trouble finding the favorites menu, it's gone?

Unfortunately, the developers decided that hard and soft buttons were sufficient. That may be true, but then they should have been able to assign the same functions to them as it was in Favorites menu.

Well, still cannot connect to the fotos app—tried the things that people said helped them:  deleting app/reinstalling and signing in, removing Q3 from Bluetooth, then connecting all over again, and restarting the device.  Pairs the camera with the device, iPhone or iPad running latest software, but then says it can’t connect.

Maybe it will work tomorrow…

Love love love this update. Feels to me like the Q3 has been given steroids.

My favourite features are -finally!- the ability to view the full, distraction-free image without black bars top and bottom, and the insanely improved start up time.

Really? Can you get rid off those 3 icons on the right side ? Those are more annoying.

besides, startup time is not improved if you leave the camera off for longer than probably 4-5 hours

Please report your experience with the new autofocus. If it really has improved, will be a wonderful christmas gift.

I was doing three things at the same time. Video recording the performance from a point in the middle of the seating, shooting with the SL3-S + 90-280SL (which I hadn't updated) and alternating with the Q3 43 for wider shots. From my position figures and faces were small in the Q3 43 EVF, and the stage lighting was not good, so it wasn't a fair test. Nor had I made any attempt to check the settings in my normal profile, although it generally performed as expected.

The Control Centre (as they now call it) icons were different from those I'd put there, and it appeared that I had both Face/Body and Field active at the same time. In use, it framed figures when it could identify them, and defaulted to the Field box otherwise, allowing me to move it around with the arrows. I couldn't work out its logic, but it appeared to work well for much of the time. I shall have to explore it in more detail on the SL3-S, which is the camera I use most for multi-person shots.

To answer your question, it's too early to say if or how the AF has been improved. I shall go through all the menu settings and resave my profiles - there are enough new menu settings that pre-existing profiles are bound to be inconsistently converted. One example is focus peaking, which was on in AF - that will go for a start (I rarely use manual focusing with the Q).

I got no warning to save profiles but had luckily done it anyways as they were wiped on the upgrade (from 3.9 on Q3M)

I too find this really annoying. why would you want peaking in AF!! at least give us th option to only have in in MF and it also doesn't go way on a half press of the shutter

Discovered this as well. Focus peaking is on in AF. UGH!  Unless you turn it off which turns it off for manual focus. Create two profiles one for each or use the menu system to toggle it off and on. -----

After updating my Leica Q3 to Firmware Version 4, I can no longer pair the camera with the Leica Fotos app.

Instead of connecting, I always receive the message that I should restart my iPhone. Even after several restarts, the problem persists.

I am using an iPhone running iOS 26.2 together with the latest version of the Leica Fotos app.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Are there any known workarounds or official notes from Leica on how to restore pairing?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Deleting the Bluetooth entry for the camera in my bluetooth settings and selecting "Forget this device" did the trick for me

Just press the central button and cycle through the display modes.

After deleting the Leica Q3 from the Bluetooth devices list on my iPhone, I was able to pair the camera again. I also deleted the Leica Fotos app and reinstalled it. Now everything is working fine.

Not for me, unfortunately.  deleted the APP, unpaired, and started from scratch.  I'm using IOS 26.2.

OK I've done the installation, and it all seemed to go OK.

From what people have said, I appreciate that focus peaking is on or off for MF and AF together, but how do you turn it off and on? I can't seem to find it in the menu. I think I used to (a) make sure the focus ring was in the MF range, (b) go to focussing, focus assist, focus peaking, etc, but I don't get "focus assist" as an option. I think I'm having more and more senior moments.

Also, is there anywhere published a key to all of the new icons/

IOS 26.2?  I did this many times but still no luck.  If you would be so kind, tell men what order what you did if you did anything beyond just "Forgetting the device."  Thanks.

I have updated Q3 Monochrome via Leica FOTOS, but I have lost all my settings. I probably should have saved them before updating.

I also lost all my settings. I was under the impression that if you update via Fotos, I would be prompted to save my settings or that they would be saved "automatically", but that ain't the case. I had to re-configure everything (luckily, this time around it went quickly).

So... backup your settings before upgrading.

I just reset the camera, and then delete the original pair from foto app. Then re-pair,  no problem at all.

I’m on iPhone 16 pro with iso 26.1

Switching to the default profile the first time also caused a freeze for me. The problem hasn't recurred since then.

I noticed that even though I asked the camera not to save profiles on reset (done after the update) and there was not a profile file on the SD card (SD card was reformatted in computer then again in camera after update/reset) when I made a new single profile I did get the LCD touch screen method of changing profiles to work as expected.

However:

I exported the profile settings. I then made a change to the settings, then went back to the touch screen to call up the saved profile which worked, then via the screen, switched to "Default" and it hung up again.

But then:

Turned camera off and on, it restarted in "Default" but now again I could switch back and forth (via the LCD) from the saved profile to "Default" without issue. (switching via the menus settings always worked without issue)

Did the entire sequence again (which had resulted in a reoccurrence of the hanging up) and it did not hang up.

Seems something triggered/triggers this issue (camera hanging up when switching from a saved profile back to "Default" via the LCD touch screen) but I can't find any consistent way of making it happen.

Then 4 "ghost" saved profiles showed up (and may have been there unnoticed before):

I did notice that when I reloaded (Imported) the profile setting file that I made when I exported the newly made profile (which was in the "User 1" location with the other user locations saying "Unused") that on reload, User locations # 3 through 6 were now showing up as used.  When selecting on of these it just brings up the "Default" profile.  There could have been no traces of any older user profiles on the SD card (card was never in a Leica Camera before and had been reformatted twice before the new (single) user profile was saved.  The camera by this time was reset twice (after the update).

If I delete the 4 "ghost" user profiles (#3 through 6) they stay deleted. I again exported the single profile to the SD card.  Camera on/off, all seems fine (mostly, as mentioned, did get it to hang up once when switching profiles via the screen without any obvious reason).

Just being curious I then re-imported the profile from the SD card and again profile slots #3-6 appeared as saved profiles, slot 2 always is listed as "Unused" (I only have a single profile right now, saved in slot 1).  Again these "ghost profiles" just call up the default profile and again once manually deleted they stay deleted (I imagine they will return if/when the saved profile are re-imported).

I don't use profiles all that much and would not have spent time of all this had not the simple switching from a saved profile to "Default" (via the LCD screen) did not hang up the camera.  (I was trying to switch back and forth from my setting to default to compare the default settings to the settings in my new profile when setting up the profile)

I have no explanation why the camera would load profile slots #3-6 with copies of the "Default" profile.  My suspicion is that there may be an error in the firmware for the handling of profiles.  Right now a workaround seems to be just not using the LCD screen to switch back to "Default" if having to restart the camera would be an issue at that time.

Actually I doubt I have ever switched from a saved profile back to the default on on purpose - my preference would be to just be able to delete the default profile and have it only come back on a full camera reset.

to give a contrary opinion:

-I updated because the one thing I dislike about my Q343 is the AF, my preliminary tests show no improvement for iAF and AFC, if not actually worse.

-I really liked the simple menu system, of the previous version, but now it’s more complicated *and* there’s no Favorites menu anymore, totally deleted, wtf?

-I use focus peaking for MF, but *really* don’t want it for AF, this is insane, a terrible choice.

I checked with my local Leica store and there’s no way to downgrade to previous version. If you haven’t “upgraded” I would seriously consider not doing so.

Did you try removing the battery,  for a few seconds, reinsert then turn the camera back on?
