Will see what the announcement will bring and give us,...

It appears it will give you tethered shooting,.... and Capture One. It's the equivalent of hearing the new Apo II lens is better than the ordinary Apo we already have, so we buy one and squint and magnify to see the difference, but we can't. Insecurity fuels the photography market, and the only aim is to get photographers spending money on Capture One, and I predict it will not turbocharge your Leica.

I don't disagree. But from a C1 user's POV, this is a reassuring announcement for your investment (mostly muscle memory). I shoot with my Leica tethered fashion, and it already works as expected. Let's see what they'll have up their sleeves. On a geopolitical backdrop, anything that strengthens European tech is highly welcome. Adobe, alas, seems now to be part of the dark forces.

Should I switch again from LR to Capture 1 ? It will be not the first time. However for now I am fine with LR. Will see what the announcement will bring and give us,...

Are you shooting for clients with Capture One workflows?

If not, and you feel happy with LR you stay and you will be happy.

LR or C1 are excellent RAW converter that's it.

I would invest in a workshop if you feel uncertain in some aspects.

Stay with your edit and organize tool and proven workflow:

If you don't work or want to work with sessions
If tethered shooting is not a question
if you are fine with the results of your editing routine.

As a longtime C1 user I love to work/shoot in sessions and since autum its a joy to use sessions cross desktop and mobil version.
There are a lot informations about C1 sessions in the www.

Great news.

Capture one is an interesting one.  Originally I read here how gents like their prints from C1 better than LR.   Now I understand why as some of the fine color renderings are spectacular in print from C1.

I also use C1 tethered for Portrait sessions and clients just love seeing the shots on screen.

However, LR is easier to use.  I consider C1 a specialty tool.  Maybe one day I will become quicker using it.

It depends what you know and have been using for a while..

I'm not a power user any software app, but I've been using C1 for 15+ years and find it intuitive and vey easy to use. Lightroom is OK, I didn't like it as much. I can't get my ahead around Photoshop at all.

Good to hear about the partnership and i am sure many here will be happy about this.

I switched 2020 from LrC to C1 but find it also difficult to use after 20+ years using LR and almost all Adobe products from version 1 on.
However, i could have took classes, watch tutorials etc to learn how to master C1 but i decided to go back to Adobe and their software i am used to and working fine for my needs. I don't tether, but used Leica Fotos to do so for macro work what made it more comfortable, but i shoot 90% outside so tethering is not a argument for me.
Maybe this partnership pushes Adobe to take a little more care to Leica cameras, camera and lens profiles for example, would be nice to have but nor a requirement for me.

Usually there is an assistant that controls the app and helps with the process.

We call it digital assistant.

He also gives you hints when something is not sharp or you are of with the exposure.

Tethering is a job for 2 People. Like shooting and flying a drone. One person controls the drone and the other the camera.

If you shoot on a budget.

If you don't then you can make all the decisions yourself and you also can keep 3 balls in the air if you like.

Allways know that the pressure with clients is higher the more people are on your set.

cheers Peter

Since we're now talking about tethered shooting, I'd like to mention that tethered shooting is quite a bit more than just remote control with a larger live preview image.
The preview image remains the same resolution as the preview image on the camera.

With a serious tethering solution, you have the recorded RAW footage almost instantly available on a computer for post-production.
This allows you to see a lot of prepared post-production work in a fairly accurate preview quality and adjust the shots accordingly
or use overlays for composition or layout purposes.
That means your shoot ist just developed and can be corrected on the fly while shooting and you are much better prepared for the final post.
