LeAlain Posted 5 hours ago Share #1 Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a 1,4/35 and a 2/75 on my M10M, the combo makes me very happy and I use it a lot. I want to go and shoot on film as well, I have the feeling it is somewhat easier to use, say a 2/90 on the M3 or M6, because of the framlines. So basically I am prob. be buying the M3 with the 2/90. A M6 might be handier, but I don't necessarily need the light meter, because I can measure with my 10M or my Sekonic light meter. What are your thoughts? Advertisement Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Hi LeAlain, Take a look here I have 35 & 75 for D, but looking for 90 for film. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photon42 Posted 3 hours ago Share #2 Posted 3 hours ago The M3 is excellent for lenses 50 and longer. It is a cool camera, but in my eyes best with a 50. Normal 35 lenses work but your won't get the proper frame lines for them. If you really enjoy 35/75 (which I do as well), then go with a camera supporting these frame lines. The M3 is the least useful machine for your lenses.
sandro Posted 3 hours ago Share #3 Posted 3 hours ago For film there are quite a few options when you want to buy a Leica M. Apart from the M3 also the M2 and M4 are nice. The magnification of the finder in the M3 is indeed an advantage, but with an M4 or M4-2 or M4-P you can certainly use a 90mm as well. You mention "the 2/90" but there are several of them. Do you need the faster lens or would aperture 4 be ok as well? Lex
lct Posted 2 hours ago Share #4 Posted 2 hours ago At full aperture, a 90/2 lens is not far from the limit of RF accuracy when used with 0.68x or 0.72x M cameras, let alone 0.58x. No problem with 0.91x on the M3.
burchyk Posted 1 hour ago Share #5 Posted 1 hour ago For 90mm I have a Voigtlander APO /f2.8 and it is a lovely lens. Have to use 1.4x magnifier on 0.72x M-A from LLL. Nailing focus is still tricky, so I tend to f/4 at closer distances.
