I have an M 2.8/21mm ASPH without 6-Bit coding. I haven`t done this for years now. Has anyone coded a lens recently - what did Leica charge?

A friend in Germany had his 21mm coded recently: it was >600 EUR as they also cleaned and calibrated the lens.

Many thanks. Quite expensive - perhaps it is better to hand code and renew now and then.

Works well on current Cosina made VM and ZM lenses, less on on uncoded Leica lenses that have no groove to pen code the lens, so that the black paint wears off too easily while also dirtying the coding area of the camera. Unless one mounts a replacement coded flange, if any, or butchers the uncoded flange with a dremel tool but this is another story.

I bought a nifty little template from ... can't remember the place... that lets me hand code my lenses.  Its simple and cheap and takes no time at all. If it wear off, I just redo it. Leica can get along without any more of my money.  Someone here will remember the company that makes it, I think it is English.

Works fine with my Voigtländer lenses.
