stunsworth Posted January 12, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 12, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm using the latest version - 2.0.0.11 - of the browser on a Mac and the program freezes occasionally, meaning I have to force quit. When I restart every thing's ok and stays that way for a day or two until it freezes again. The PC version seems ok. Anyone else having similar problems? Advertisement Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Hi stunsworth, Take a look here Anyone else having problems with Firefox on a Mac?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spylaw4 Posted January 12, 2008 Share #2 Posted January 12, 2008 Steve, I've only used Firefox intermittently but never had that trouble as far as I can recall. I do however sometimes have trouble with Safari 3.0.4 freezing occasionally, and also suddenly quitting when attempting to access it from a url in another programme e.g. Mail. I'm still on 10.4.11 - no Leopard until at least 10.5.3!
christer Posted January 12, 2008 Share #3 Posted January 12, 2008 Steve, I am using Firefox on my Mac right now, not because I read you mail, but because I almost alway use it. It works fine for me, knock on wood, and I definitely prefer it to Safari which does not work well with eBay, to mention one example. Chris
gberger Posted January 12, 2008 Share #4 Posted January 12, 2008 I'm still using 10.4.11. Safari has caused one problem after another, and Firefox clearly was better; however, I switched to Camino, and clearly prefer it to Firefox. Camino is programmed as a Mac OSX app only. IMO, it's faster and easier to use than Firefox- - - - but it doesn't have the variety of plug-ins that are available for Firefox. The current version has all the security updates built-in. rjans Posted January 12, 2008 Share #5 Posted January 12, 2008 I'm using the latest version of Firefox on MacBook (X 10.4.11): no problems at all. Safari is giving me troubles when visiting eBay and some other site's as well.
lct Posted January 12, 2008 Share #6 Posted January 12, 2008 I'm using the latest version - 2.0.0.11 - of the browser on a Mac and the program freezes occasionally... Same for me under OS 10.4.11. No problem with Safari 3.0.4 on G4, G5, PB G4 and iMac G3. FWIW.
rsh Posted January 12, 2008 Share #7 Posted January 12, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use both Safari and Firefox. When one does not work with a particular website well, I switch. Better twi than one.
Guest timackerman Posted January 12, 2008 Share #8 Posted January 12, 2008 I prefer to use Firefox on my MacBook because I usually run into issues with Safari. No real issues to report with Firefox though
StS Posted January 13, 2008 Share #9 Posted January 13, 2008 I also use Firefox under 10.4.11 but have no issues. The 10.5 disk is still on my desk, I haven't found the time yet to upgrade...
spylaw4 Posted January 13, 2008 Share #10 Posted January 13, 2008 Interesting that some of you are having eBay troubles with Safari, which (fingers crossed) is a problem I don't suffer from.
stunsworth Posted January 13, 2008 Author Share #11 Posted January 13, 2008 Thanks everyone. I should have added that I've not upgraded the Mac OS yet. I should also add that the sites I have problems with are ones that are at other times accessed without any issues what so ever. Most strange. This is only a very occasional problem, more annoying than frustrating, but it would be nice to have it corrected.
