Leica today announced a firmware update v.2.6.0 for all Leica M11 family models:

The latest firmware introduces a number of new functions and improvements designed to further enhance camera performance and user flexibility:

NEW

  • The function White Balance Adjustment allows the user to make custom adjustments to the sensor white point calibrated ex works. This adjustment will affect the automatic White Balance as well as the fixed presets (Film Style).
  • Lens detection now offers additional flexibility when using Leica-M lenses with 6-bit encoding. Even if the lens type is detected automatically, the user can now additionally select another lens type from the list of M lenses. The list is available for all profiles and will be included when profiles are exported to an SD card.
  • The Dust Protection function can now also be controlled via Leica FOTOS (Version 5.5.1 and higher).

In addition, several issues have been addressed to improve system stability and connectivity:

ERROR CORRECTION

  • In rare cases, the connection between the camera and smartphone was severed by the operating system during image downloads and could not be restored afterwards. This issue was resolved.
  • A bug was fixed where, in exposure bracketing with Auto ISO, the second and third shots were at times taken with unnecessarily high ISO values.
  • The issue, where images were sometimes misaligned after being transferred to the computer if the camera was quickly rotated from horizontal to vertical during shooting, was fixed.

So, are we done now with tropes about Leica and firmware? 

The whole entire point about firmware is that it can be updated. Imagine the screaming and convulsions if Leica never did...  

Did it take a little while to iron things out? OK, sure. But they kept at it.

Anyone running current firmware has no good reason to keep complaining about prior firmware. It's no longer in use. It was corrected. If anything, these updates reflect Leica's commitment to getting things right. 

Give it a rest.

This round is really promising. I have skipped last one or two. But this one has way more useful and tangible updates I like.

I am going to update this weekend if the weather is good enough and stars are perfectly aligned up. And I will bathe and pray before proceeding, when dealing with Leica, I am always superstitious.

On my M11-D I have firmware 2.6.0 installed and Fotos app 5.5.2 and I see no White Balance adjustment in the app setting.

Edit: Oops, now found 5.6.0 Fotos... going in...  now found and working properly.

I did the update to my M11, but haven't had a chance to test the white balance setting yet.

I don't see obvious corrections in auto WB for now. Seems like those interested can now fine tune WB with the camera instead of doing it in post but others can still keep the Leica look they prefer hopefully.

A much appreciated IMO user controlled, in camera WB adjustment feature. Leave it at default, as-is or apply +/- Magenta, Blue, Green, Yellow or any combination thereof to taste.

So I was at the pharmacy getting my booster shot.  

Nurse says, "Which arm do you want it in?"

She says, "Why yes, I should think so..."

I says, "Great! I've always wanted to be able to play the Xylophone!"

Since update the battery level indication is " curious "

First reading was 80%, i decided to charge the battery and now it says 45%, exactly, and no change after additional charge.

Am i alone ?
