Kiwimac Posted October 31 Share #41 Posted October 31 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had M11 black, M11-P black and now Safari. I never was quite comfortable with the black ones and couldn’t quite put my finger on why. Every Leica M I’ve ever owned since about 1997 has been black chrome until the M11. The Safari being brass like the silver chrome M11’s has a definite solidity to it that was just not there for me in the black ones. I really like the Safari and as it stands, I’m planning to keep it until the M12 Safari is released. Unless the M12 is so revolutionary that I can’t wait that long! 🤣

If so, I expect that would best shutter experience to date on a digital M. And if they added IBIS... Additionally, the M11's dual shutter introduces micro-shake, although it's not as noticeable as on DSLR cameras.

DSLR cameras have mirror slap as main cause of vibrations, while mirrorless cameras (includes M cameras) have shutter shock. It is cause by first curtain. What you call “dual shutter” is standard mechanical shutter on mirrorless cameras. What is missing with M11 is EFCS, though an electronic shutter mitigates the shutter shock. In all tests that I know about, shutter shock is not noticeable with M11 when using focal length of 90mm or less. Edited October 31 by SrMi
