What is a couple of mm between friends?

In the hands, due to the ergonomic shape of the handle, the Hasselblad feels twice as light as the SL3

The weight difference is indeed not too much.  But thinking back to the time when I got the SL next to my M, the sheer (impression of size) was a strong minus.

Really? That is rather a cheap shot, don't you think? The little differences in size between the two cameras are rather negligible once you have come to terms with the fact that you cannot fit this type of camera in your coat pocket, let alone your trouser pocket.

However, it cannot be overlooked that the new Hasselblad is superior to the SL3 in every respect when it comes to pure photography.

What is cheap about posting an objective comparison? No need to get all defensive. If it is superior, just buy it...

It's not the few millimetres difference that are cheap, but the fact that you have framed this rather small difference as "bulky".

Still, I think that comparing between different formats is somewhat unproductive. A better comparison would be to the S series.

Film Hasselblads were “better” cameras than film Leicas, certainly in image quality. Yet I never saw people presenting them as rivals.

If I was going for a winter hike in the snow, which I do often, I would prefer an SL3 and APO prime or even a Q3 43 over the Hasselblad. I worry about its lack of official weather sealing. For everyday photography though, I can see how the image quality bump by going digital MF becomes addictive. Too big a setup for me as I like smaller cameras but tempting still, just from a nerdy tech perspective.

What does that even mean? As far as I can tell, it still can’t replace an SL for me. My most commonly used lenses are the 50mm APO Summicron and the 90-280mm, and Hasselblad cannot compete with either. Megapixels are not very helpful in landscape if your lenses have substantial field curvature or are not evenly sharp from edge to edge. And as already noted, video is a non-starter.
I am sure it is a great camera for certain uses, but just like any system, it has its strengths and weaknesses.

Assuming that one even needs such alleged superiority for one's photography. Any camera of the SL series is far more capable than I am.

The newer X2D II continues to be build in Sweden, and the new 35-100 zoom in Japan, after the lone P75 from China.

That’s very interesting that the lenses are made in Japan and China. I wonder who Hasselblad has been partnering with to manufacture lenses.

There are a lot of similarities between FujiFilm’s 45-100 f/4 and Hasselblad’s 35-100 f/2-4.

Seeing how FujiFilm has manufacturing facilities in both Japan and China, it makes me think FujiFilm’s collaboration with Hasselblad from the film camera days are still very much alive.

As I recently switched (or better said added) systems, currently I am more walking around with a HB then the SL (sold the Q for funding the 907x). Negative side effect is that I am walking around with a bag again. Don’t want to risk to get caught up in a summer shower.

I don’t know about China, but I thought it was Nittoh.
If Fuji were doing it, it would be a bit of a conflict of interest since they are literally their only direct competitors in that field.

Looking into the crystal ball a little, more likely than not Leica will eventually announce their mirrorless, medium format system. According to what is said by Leica, the new system will come with a set of newly developed medium format lenses, plus that the body will accept S-mount, L-mount, M-mount and R-mount lenses via adapters (plus lots of other lenses). The price tag for the S4 (or whatever it's called) and the new medium format lenses will likely be high; but to adopt lot's of lenses, from wide angle to tele, with optical characteristics ranging from 'artistic' to optically superb, including properly weather sealed lenses, are interesting. Particularly for those already into the S- and/or L-mount systems.

The crystal ball also saw a SL24 apo. It never came.

By the time Leica comes with the S4, most people went with HB already and might not switch back.

Moreover, S4, if it comes out, will not be soon. Then they will debug the firmware on it for another three years.

Shooting weddings with a Q3 and a SL3 with the 21mm + 75mm APOs was worth the switch from Sony for me. I am really happy now after some adaption time. However I currently often find myself looking into the HB system mainly for private use away from the paid jobs. But then I read here the optical performance of some HB lenses lacks and reminds me that I already own the best lenses out there with the two APOs beside M-Glas. I might rent the HB with some lenses and plan a direct shoot-out with my Leica gear before making a decision. However for professional use the weather-sealing and the video functions are really a big plus with Leica gear and of course that you can shoot 100mm+. Not to talk about possible restrictions when shooting with flash. (Honestly I have no big knowledge here yet in the HB world) Also there are quite some horror stories in the net when sending HB gear out for repair, and every day counts for a professional photographer waiting for the gear to come back. Yesterday I was shooting a wedding in rainy conditions without problems. BTW the best and most emotional pictures I get with my little Q3 very close in the scene which is really not scaring off people. Not sure how people would react on a medium format camera. This topic I find also really important and it hasn't really focused on here yet...Capture the moment vs. 120% technical perfection...
