M-P 240 misfires occasionally

My M-P sometimes sounds like it jams.  A shot makes a curtailed shutter sound and then you cannot make more shots until you turn off/on again.  Pressing the button does nothing when jammed.  Happens about 1/1000 shots.  I let it be, but recently during a trip the jamming would not go away for a while.  Even removing and reinserting the battery was not doing it.  I was using a multifunctional grip.  Finally I took off the grip and did the battery reinsert and turned the camera on without reattaching the grip, that fixed it and then I put the grip back on.

Any pattern of misfiring and what does it mean?

You’ve answered your own question. Check the contacts on the body and grip are clean.

That happened without the grip as well.

Could be the battery contacts too.

I would suspect a shutter issue. I have been down this road many times and a trip back to Leica for the camera is called for.
